1st big rat of the year...

The action has been light at the local dairy. I’ve done my task too well. The rats have been scarce and they are my preferred prey. I shot this fatty at 40 yards through the mower you see in first image. My rat kill zone is at the end of this feed corridor. Circled in red. Four feet across at most, with the manure collection directly behind. I shot a second one as big but could not retrieve it. Even with solid kill shot some make it back to their holes, which are inches away. Today there were lots of starlings in that corridor but I couldn’t shoot as there were too many cows in the background. I also smoked some sparrows at 54 yards. By the way that’s a size 10 boot next to the rat. Next week I’m going to try and get a new permission at a place that looks promising, wish me luck.

nicely done!

I've been using my crown continuum in .25 cal, dialed back to 450 fps. 9 foot lbs and still half of the rats get back into their final resting place before expiring.

Wednesday night, shot 4 and just last night, another four.

Friday nite, went to friends barn and shot about 25 of the big buggers.

I wear a size 9....
