hehe even if i am a old guy i have never tried dial up.
My first stabs at the internet was on a friends dual ISDN lines, playing C&C and red alert, myself i only got on when ADSL had come about and flat rate internet, first connection in my house was 256 / 256 kbit, that grew to a 512 / 512 kbit line and in the end a 6 /1 mbit line which was all the phone line would handle.
When i sold my house it had a fiber optic cable to the wall / thru the wall, with no limits really aside for on the finance side of things, 10 years ago that was still quite expensive, today gigabit cost about 35 USD /mo on cable / fiber / whatever.
Been on gigabit( cable ) for about 7 years now, though this sits can still make that shudder now and then, but i know its not in my end,,,, well most times at least.

technology ... sometimes it's great , sometimes it sucks
I prefer the present day as I can remember searching the Air Gun Classifieds in GUN LIST magazine. Had to visit a news stand or bookstore to search for new toys to buy
