Mike, thanks for the info. Are you saying that the Anschutz 9759 front sight for standard front base would also fit the HW55? It is supposed to fit the older 1800 series Anschutz. If so, at $67.50 from Champion's Choice that looks like an ideal solution for me. I can always put the original HW sight back on if I ever take it out of the house.

I have been shooting it more of course. It is still a recoiling type springer, but very enjoyable in its own way. The lighter weight makes it relaxing to shoot, but it doesn't hang on the target like the 300s, which weighs 1 1/2 pounds more, and is recoilless to boot. I like them both and don't plan to part with either anytime soon.

I did sight it in off bags, and managed this 5 shot target after some fiddling around. Not too bad. With the 8 ring at 10.5 mm, the group size is under 1/4". Pellets were JSB 8.02.

Beautiful rifle there Mike. I like the ISU style stock with the deep forend. I think I will take a chance and order the 9759 sight. It is described as fitting the 1800 series Anschutz and "many other rifles with the standard front base". Hopefully that includes HW.

To make sure I don't leave people with the wrong impression, I refined my benchrest technique some more and shot some groups with the 300s and the HW55 at 10 meters using the standard aperture sights. I'd say the HW definitely holds its own. I'm impressed!
