18gr vs 20gr

I purchased a Taipan Vet2 .22 from Dairyboy and he shot the JSB 20gr from it very accurately @ 50yds approximately 950fps and I shoot the JSB 18gr from it @ 980fps very accurately. The 20gr do have a better BC. I am like you, thinking about purchasing some 20gr but I have a plethora of 18gr! Another dilemma I have is my Vet shoots 20gr AVS slugs as accurately as the 18gr @ close distances but is much better cutting through wind especially when pesting. The 18gr pellet is tough to beat for accuracy and price and it is my go to pellet in .22 which all my PCP's are.

I went on HAM's website to check the BC of the different JSBs in .22cal. Normally heavier has better BC?

I shoot 18 grain in two airguns and 21 grain in another. It depends on what they like. My P35-22 really likes H&N 21.1 grain especially the Match ones. It does not like any 18 grain I have tried but I haven't tried the 18.3 grain AEA the Bullshark loves. I've shot a grand total of 4 of the 21.9 grain AEA I just got but the last 3 went into a nice small group so they show promise. My Caiman X likes 18 grain Baracudas, it doesn't like 21 grain H&Ns and it doesn't like the 18.3 grain AEAs quite as well I think but I need to shoot a few more to be sure. The Caiman does not like JSB or FX 18 grain much. I have found no reliable way to know in advance what a gun will like. I shoot whatever the guns likes the best.

Fwiw, I (& at least one other person) have gotten bc values quite different than those achieved by HAM.
Used the speed at 1 yard from the muzzle, and the speed at 50 yards, to calculate a BC of 0.045 for the 20.8 grain Monster Lights. This is at an elevation of ~823 feet above sea level, 84F, ~60%rh. Taipan Vet II, 550mm CZ unchoked barrel, 1:17 twist.
This aligns with my anecdotal observation compared to years of shooting JSB 15.9 & 18.1- they are noticeably better in wind. Not immune to it by any means, but less affected than JSB 18.1 grain pellets.
