.177 Weihrauch HW97 KT Blue Laminate Performance & Maint review

As much as I enjoy pcps when the weather is decent outside, on wet, cold, crappy weather days such as featured in Indiana this morning, there is nothing like shooting a good springer.

This morning I pulled out my Weihrauch HW97KT blue laminate, purchased from AOA in April of 2020 as part of my COVID sanity campaign. Mounted on this rifle is one of my original Hawke Airmax SF 30 6x24-50 scopes. Built like tanks, these scopes deliver day in and day out, whether on springers or pcps. I mounted the Hawke scope on an RWS lockdown mount and added a Rowan Engineering cocking handle. Tuned day one, this rifle enjoyed a complete tear down, with hand polishing of the internals, a complete tear down and polishing of the trigger components, and the installation of a Vortek PG3 spring kit and seals. I modified the spring kit by reducing the number of coils to the point where there is absolutely no buzz or vibration and the rifle is extremely smooth in the cocking and lock-up cycle.

This morning's maintenance was very routine. The stock and scope screws were tight. The barrel only required about four cleaning patches run through front and back, before they came out clean.

With the Chrony Pro positioned approximately one foot from the muzzle, I proceed to shoot the groups as found below. I own several very nice and very accurate springers but as I have stated below on this forum, if I could only own one, it would be a 97.

Thanks for looking, and as always, your courteous comments are always welcome....DZ
