.177 surprise

I bought a used BSA scorpion to play with just for kicks. The gun shot as advertised, about 1/2 in. groups at 40 yards with jsb 10.34 pellets at almost 900 fps. I noticed a lot of lead dust and small flakes on the pellets and inside the skirts when I loaded the mags, so as I usually wash my .22 pellets in hot water with dish washing soap, I decided to wash these .177 pellets. Imagine my surprise when these washed pellets started coming up with 1/4 in groups at 40 yards ! And if I did my part with the shooting, they continued to shoot this well. Only thing I can think of the gun hates the mold lube on the pellets. I have never seen this big of a change from washing pellets. Now if I do my part, 1/2 in. 5 shot groups are pretty regular at 50 yards. Believe me I will be washing ALL my pellets from now on !
