.177 smooth twist vrs .22 smooth twist.

I keep hearing people say the smooth twist .177 barrels arnt as accurat and or arnt as good as the .22 smooth twist.
even people working at the gun stors tell me this and ive hear it more than once and on the internet too?

I'm talking about accuracy and longer range shooting

is this true and I would like to hear your take on this matter.
fact or fiction guys?

I believe from experience that Smooth Twist (ST) is very accurate when shooting at high power, The lower the power setting the slower the pellet travels and the less effective ST will be. Traditional lothar Walther barrels are better for lower powered rifles because they force the Twist rate sooner and for much longer. As for accuracy well that also depends on what range you are shooting at and the caliber you are using. .177 pellets are lighter and are more prone to being affected by crosswinds at longer ranges than .22, .25 or .30 caliber and that is true irrespective of the barrel rifling type.

As an experiment try this. Scrunch up a dry, clean sheet of toilet paper into a ball. Do likewise with the same sized piece of paper (like a "Post-It Note"). Go outside in a moderately windy day and making sure you face with the wind blowing from your left or right, throw the balls as accurate and hard as you can. I bet the paper version went further. IF HOWEVER, the toilet paper you threw was accurate up to 30 meters, then you may have latent X-Men powers and should be chatting on a different forum.
