.177 FX Crown targets

It may not be the barrel. What is your tune and chrony numbers, what pellets have you tried. The Crown as well as the Impact can take some work to shoot well. It is a airgun that can take a modicum of patience and deduction as well as a tinkerers mindset to obtain optimum performance . It is not a gun for everyone. Post your setup and I am sure someone can help you. Good luck, and keep at it.

I have several FX's and they all are very accurate. Except my Wildcat .177 . It is less accurate then the others because it is the only .177. But, the .177 is still accurate enough to pick off any pest, including lizards or flies that happen to get near my targets while I'm practicing.

The FX barrels are great but I just don't think they have it down yet for the .177. Maybe switch out the barrel or convert to an X barrel. Maybe convert to .22?

Brace yourself for a non-helpful post:

I've seen and heard of a lot of people having issues shooting. Invariably the gun or gun/ammo combination is blamed. Often as not, the issue is really just an operator headspacing issue. Half of this is because the shooter is making some mechanical error, the other half is down to expectations. People on forums in general don't post crappy groups. Sometimes you'll see a group off to one side of their glory shot where they say they were just "sighting in" or some other excuse or just ignore the bad group off to the side of the frame entirely. This leads to unreasonably high expectations for what a gun can do, as people think every group of theirs should look as good as the glory shots going up on the forum. And precision shooting is a mind game, so if you can't get out of your own head you're going to keep pulling shots only making the problem worse. If you expect a gun to perform poorly, it will perform poorly.

So all that is well and good to say. My best advice to someone who is having a hard time shooting is hand the gun to someone else who is printing great groups. Let them shoot it a bit, without hovering over them, and see what they say.

As for the Crown specifically, try a couple groups hand-loaded. I've said it before, I'll say it again: these pre-sprung magazines are flier machines. Shoot indoors with dead calm air too, sandbags front and back, if you can. Take target pictures, put them up here, and lets revisit again.

owning a Impact i completely agree!

this new barrel kit came from fxusa.they informed me they had tested nine different .177 barrel kits & this was the best they had. but they could not get a smaller than a one inch group at 45yds.. & they would test the next ones that came in to find me a better one.they also stated they had made sweden aware of the .177 accuracy problems & customer complants.the targets they sent with it were pretty beat up..i was just asking.....thanks all.

This is the excerpt from one I recently sold. I only shot it out to 25 yards but it shot very well indeed.

25 yard target shown with JSB 13.43 Redesigned Monsters @ 840. 21.05 ft-lb at sea level. Adjust hammer for your elevation.

Shoots JSB 8.44’s @ 1000 on max with power wheel set for 177/22 18.75 ft-lb

908 on min with power wheel set for 177/22 15.46 ft-lb

721 on max with power wheel set to low 9.74 ft-lb

681 on min with power wheel set to low 8.69 ft-lb

This gives immediate control of 8.44 pellets from 700 to 1000 fps and from 8 to 20 ft-lb depending on pellet weight. Very efficient with regulator set to 140.

Perfect for plinking, hunting or field target.
