I believe the last two mods to my FX Crown .25 generation-1 / second revision has effectively and efficiently given this traditional sporter-style air rifle the 15 to 25 FPS boost it needed to shoot 33 to 34 grain slugs @ optimum velocity. I think 960 is great for a slug speed. On “MAX HS” and “HIGH or .25 /.30 Transfer Port”, after the addition of a Dual-Slot Barrel Transfer Port and a 6.4mm Titanium Valve Seat.
It’s previous power mods or upgrades only include an additional hammer weight, and a Huma-air high output regulator @ 175 bar. For more air capacity there is also a 580cc carbon fiber bottle.
The new power was instant. Upon the first test shots over the chronograph I saw FPS’s in the 960’s and I knew prior she was only giving me an average in the 940’s FPS range. No additional hammer spring adjustments where made. The Crown .25’s tune is exactly as it was before the parts install.
I am impressed with the fact that I am only using a 600mm long barrel. It’s the superior standard STX liner carbon fiber sleeved. 70FT. / LBS of slug nastiness @ the muzzle finally! Accuracy is superb and it really sounds like the .25 caliber Crown is effortlessly producing this power. Sounds powerful but still smooth, like it isn’t straining to get there. I even think the shot cycle may be faster. Wish these part mods where available two years ago when I began the slug gun venture. Quick results, very happy!
