15.89g jsb .22 pellets at 1100 fps - yeah (!)

Readers digest - I put a new scope and rings onto one of my guns and was at that point of initial sight in. I tell my wife its "lets see if I can hit the side of a barn" time as, well you know, I have no idea where the pellets are going to hit. I have a couple of tins of 16 gr jsb's as I mostly shoot either the 18's now-a-days, or slugs. I figure these 16's will be good enough for just finding out where the thing is hitting and then get a rough ball park zero out of it. I put up a large'ish piece of cardboard out in the back yard that hasn't been all shot up and after a little while I've got my rough sight in. Now I'll take the gun down to the local gun range that I'm able to shoot at to tune it for the slugs that I want to try. I've already figured in my head that if these light 16g pellets are flying around 1000fps then 23g slugs will likely be low to mid 950's.

I affix the fx chrony to the gun and let 'er rip - whoa!! ( lol ) These things are cookin'! 1106 on the first shot! 1103 on the second . . . readers digest after 10 shots an average of 1101. What blew me away though was how accurate and consistent they were flying - granted only 30 yards but easily a nickel sized group - and I wasn't really trying for accuracy - just checking speed to get a ball park of where I figured the slugs would be starting out at. I didn't bring the tin of the 16's with me but still had twenty shots of them left in two magazines. So just for the hell of it I adjust the scope ( down because indeed they were a little hot ) and "zeroed " there are the 30 yard mark after 3 or 4 shots. Now curious and blown away at how good these things were going I placed a target on another board on this range that is at 50 yards. Again - not shooting or really trying for extreme accuracy but check out the pic below. 10 shots at 50 yards - 16g jsb pellets at 1101 fps. AND - no hold over - I was cross hair aiming at this 50 yard the same way I was at the 30 yard mark. I can only assume really flat trajectory because of the sheer speed. The bull on that sticker is 1"

I didn't think pellets were supposed to fly well at speeds exceeding high 900's or into the 1k range? I shot 'em all and wished I'd brought that tin with me . . .
