128 shots with FX .22 Impact "WOW" update 159 shots

1st time I shot a 32fpe .22 that's getting 128 shot pre fill. so happy with the shot count I had to give its own topic heading. I did lower the reg to 135b to get a tighter ES. 

fill pressure: 245 to 135b

16g JSB

with 18g 34fpe

note 8 June 3:30 updated shot count after adjustment::::

lowered the reg to 110b and VS adjustment, did notic below 130b the refresh rate a little slower so added 5 second in between shots till off the reg.250b to 110b fill15.89 JSB #shots 159high; 933

135 bar (air pressure). In this case, It is referencing the pressure of the air behind the regulator which can be set to specific pressures that allow a very precise amount of measured air to be sent to launch the air pellet. On the other side of the air regulator, is air cylinder pressure. ES is Extreme Spread. More pressure in front of the regulator usually means more shot count. Extreme spread pertains to the velocity extremes of the shots fired. A smaller extreme spread usually means a very consistent pellet performance.. Determining this is done with a chronograph that can measure pellet speed in feet or meters per second.

The_one.. No. the velocity and pellet weight is the give away. So most folks use the JSB 18.1 in .22 as THE go to benchmark pellet that gives best bullet co-efficient, at a velocity of around 930 to 960 fps . The quotes above were with the lighter pellets, maybe adjusting the regulator down to match the lighter pellets has increased efficiency for that combination of rifle, pellet, regulator pressure, and hammer spring tension. Now add in transfer port size... It can mean a serious amount of work to customize each rifle to shoot its best. Each rifle is different, and has to be tweaked for best efficiency. It sounds like Ernest has dialed in this rifle for maximum efficiency. YMMV.

Awesome looking rifle.😨 

Just curious at to what sort of accuracy are you getting with the 16 grain at about 960 fps as compared to the 18 grains at about 920 fps ?

"The_one"Forgive me for being blunt but don't those numbers basically kick the crap out of any pcp in existence? I'm not an expert on a wide range of mfg's and models but it would seem to me that in the world of .22 pcp you're getting double the shot count at a slightly higher velocity?

lol, shot count is not everything and this gun has 480cc air... My gun has 230cc air and gets 56 shots from a 235 bar fill with an ES of 6fps that is half the ES of his Impact. My gun is shooting at 31 fpe

Matt Dubber said a similar thing in his review of the Impact, his had 20 fps ES and yet he thought it was the best out there (?!)

lol, shot count is not everything and this gun has 480cc air... My gun has 230cc air and gets 56 shots from a 235 bar fill with an ES of 6fps that is half the ES of his Impact. My gun is shooting at 31 fpe

Also it' not all about low ES, the pellet could be vary unstable and have low ES, and also it's easier to have a lower ES with less shot count.

ran out of 18g so have to use up the 16g till I order more.

both pellet are dead accurate at that speed.

the power wheel on mine was set up for the .30 

for the .22 you don't need the valve open so much, so at power wheel on 3 she max out in speed, just tested the 1st shot speed over night and was 6fps slow then 2nd shot was within the normal ES.

i don't see any other BP with a 480cc tank with the OAL of the impact.

Not even close - the efficiency works out to be about 1.29 FPE/CUIN

Here's one just about 1.5 at that level (34fpe)

My 2260, with a 13 CI tank regulated at 1600 psi, gave the following at various stages of tune with the SSG.... This is with 18.1 gr. JSB Heavies....

11.4 FPE (532 fps) = 6 psi/shot = 2.12 FPE/CI
18.3 FPE (675 fps) = 10 psi/shot = 1.98 FPE/CI
24.4 FPE (779 fps) = 16 psi/shot = 1.67 FPE/CI
31.3 FPE (882 fps) = 23 psi/shot = 1.52 FPE/CI
36.7 FPE (955 fps) = 28 psi/shot = 1.46 FPE/CI





My personal Bottle converted & Regulated .22 M-rod
Has regulator , a Light hammer & SSG fitted.
360 cc tank w/ 18.1's @ 865 fps ( 30 ft lbs ) does 95 shots = 1.72 efficiency
