I just changed the spring in my hw98 to a 12 foot pound vortek spring. Really tightened up the group's quite a bit at 25 yards. Chronied at 12.13 ft pounds but smelling a little lube. Should tame down just under 12. Very happy.

12ftlbs on almost any air rifle is a blast! My father really wanted a simple break barrel to shoot accurately and not be so dang hold sensitive. He is now the proud owner of a Walther Terrus and it shoots fantastic! I myself have 3 pcp's 2 of them can be dialed to 12ftlbs and it makes them whisper quiet and still dead accurate. I truly believe 12ftlbs is the best way to go if fiddling isn't your cup of tea!

If you have ever handled an HW30 do you mind comparing the strength required to cock the HW30 to your modified HW98?

Yes I have both. I would put the 30 at 10 to 12 pounds and the 95 / 98 at approximately 20 lbs cocking efort.

Best 2 out of 3 groups 25 yards at 12 foot-pounds. Always been able to group, just more consistent....easier!
