10x or 12x fixed

I've been thinking about trying a fixed power SWFA SS in either 10 or 12 power as I do most of my shooting at those powers. Most of my shots will be 20 to 60 yards with the occasional longer shots and I'm leaning toward the 10x for the better field of view. This will be mounted on my Taipan Veteran long .22 that is currently wearing an Aeon 6x24-50 SFP but is sure gets hard to see through at dusk even on 10x. Also I'm thinking of setting it up for clicking my yardages.

Any one have any recommendation one way or the other

I have the swfa 10x sf md on a cricket compact .22 and have no problem pesting crows past 100 yds. To aid in clicking get the zero scope stop bushings. Make returning to zero easy. The 10x will help on the 30/40 yd shots .

I like 6x myself but most scopes mils are true at 10x, highest power, or otherwise as stated. The ONLY way to be sure is a yard stick/ruler in the ground at 100 yards or meters & check its reticle.

The 10X comes in two styles. The side wheel is only offered on the 10X. I picked up a 20X and was pleasantly surprised with it's near dusk clarity.

I guess I missed out on their Memorial Day sale but they have some 10x rear focus on their demo sale for $259 so I will try one and see how I like it. I'm going with the mil-quad reticle style.

You'll like it! I like the 10x but for a fixed prefer 12x. It's just a little extra zoom and little bit bigger reticle. But really the difference is small so your splitting hairs.

I have two of the 12x mil quad scopes and one 20x mil quad. I don’t think you could go wrong with any SWFA scope. You decide that fits you best.

I have two SWFA scopes. I have the fixed 10X and the 3-15x42 FFP both in Mil-Quad reticles. For shooting pigeons at 50 to 60 yards, I feel that the fixed 10X is adequate. Anything further past 60 yards, I bump up the magnification to 15X. I've never looked through the fixed 12X so I can't give an honest opinion.

Well, I ordered the 10x42 rear focus, mil quad. Now the wait begins yet again.

Excellent choice! I think you'll be happy with the fixed 10X. Yes, the wait sucks but well worth it.

I have the 12x with mil quad and I really like it. It has a very fine reticle that I like. I plan to get another someday. Mine has been mounted on my HW97K and it’s absolutely perfect fit I’m looks and function.
