@jking the Revere loves the 15.89 grain pellets too and they were surprisingly accurate at 100 yards too.

I had my Regal XL ( lefty stock, RH bolt action with Motörhead tune ) for almost two years before I traded in for a Safari .22 HP ART barrel. Mostly used it for back yard pesting between 35-40 yards. Great gun and it was very close in terms of shooting the 15.89 and 18.1 JSB, as to which pellet was more accurate. At 50 yards BR the 18’s were slightly more accurate ( tighter groups) with 5-shot groups most of the time. At 25-35 yards both pellet weights were a toss up. Some days the 15.89 was better. The 8-10oz second stage trigger release was perfect for me too.

AA - have you tried the 18’s at 75 and 100? Assume they will be around 840-850 FPS approximately, so maybe a bit slow for 100 yard accuracy. I couldn’t get my Regal to consistently group at 100 yards. Just curious with your Revere?

Tommy, my previous un-regulated XL seemed to like the 18.1's a little better if I recall. I sold that gun a few years ago but maybe 9 months ago bought a used one off of a forum member here (non-Revere of course). He told me ahead of time that it preferred the 16's but I tried the 18's as well and he was 100% correct on the 16's. I haven't done much shooting at 100yds with it due to the normal wind here in the desert. I can say it's minute of sparrow at 80yds though. My zero is 60yds and on a good day I can put a full mag in under a dime.

What is the POI from the first shot after the rifle has sat at least overnight?

Tom,

The 18’s wouldn’t group for me. As for groups at 100 yards I would say the general groups are just under 1.5 inches CTC generally. Now grouping (precision) and shooting for high score (accuracy) are two different animals. I seem to have gotten the precision bit down, but accuracy is a little more difficult due to the light pellets and slower speeds. This will take more practice and learning how the pellet reacts to various conditions and learning to read this conditions. If you are in familiar with the difference between accuracy and precision do a quick google search and that should help clear it up. Hope this helps to answer your question.

What is the POI from the first shot after the rifle has sat at least overnight?

The Daystates and Brococks with their factory installed HUMA regulators don't seem to exhibit the wandering POI issues you had experienced with several of your brand new FX guns. Were they several brand new FX Crowns you had accuracy issues with on the first couple shots?

I have a 177 Daystate Huntsman Regal XL HUMA (factory regulated) and no first shot nor wandering POI issues when stored for days or weeks. What I like about the factory HUMA regulated ones is you get remaining tank pressure compared to adding a reg to a non regulated gun then you only get regulated pressure reading then you have to be mindful to keep counting your shots since the manometer needle never moves until it drops below the regulator pressure.

IMO, most of the changing POI issues with FX rifles are not reg issues, but the basic design of the barrel liner/sleeve/shroud/moderator assembly. Too many parts assembled in a less than robust manner, it's a recipe for maintenance issues. I had a Crown, and when I had time to go to the range and get it dialed in, it shot very well. But, the first shot was always an adventure.

Yeah, there is quite a difference between shooting groups vs. shooting for score. I’m actually comforted in a way that you had the same experience as I did with the 18’s at 100 yards. In my case I think the velocity may have been too slow to really be very accurate at 100 yards with my Regal. The wind factor combined with relatively lighter pellets normally causes a struggle vs. using heavier pellets with more velocity in my other HP airguns. Still, your Revere did very well. Should you decide to test at 75 yards, please post your results.

What’s the gun in your picture? I think you owe it to yourself to save up and buy that Revere. If you always wanted one should treat yourself. My Daystate Regal XL .22 was too much money, but once I got over eating only hot dogs for 6 months I was happy I did it!
