100 yards and 150 yard groups with my EDGUN R5M 22 cal using Knockout MK2 slugs

Hi I got a chance to try a few groups with the NEW MK2 knockout 25.4 slugs ,

GUN and set up

EDGUN R5M 22 long

scope Tangent Theta 3x15 30 mm Gen2 mildot all shots at 10x power ,

Tripod 2VETS The Kit tripod with Real Right Stuff SOAR ballhead

Ammo

JSB Knockout MK2 25.4 gr unsorted

Weather

34 degrees wind 11mph unsteady

TUNE

regulator set at 144 bar with HUMA

barrel polished and crown11 degrees

shooting slugs about 1000fps , I did not tune for this slug my gun was tuned for my MP36 grain slugs

summary

 for first time testing them in this gun , well as you can see 100 yd groups it was windy and groups deviated over 1/2 distance meaning on a mild day taking time I can see these shoot under 1/2moa even at 1000 fps , Id like th test accuracy while going up and down in fps by 25fps to find where they fly best , but overall they shoot very accurately in my Taipan vet , in 22 and 25 and they shoot well in maverick and RTI but I only shot a few groups out of each gun , I think the R5m is ready to test them on a squirrel hunt

Hola te quería consultar que autonomía te da el r5 a esa velocidad. Yo tengo un r5 m también con reguladora y power plenum HUMA. y no lo lleve a más de 125 bar .lo cual me da 860 fps Con jsb slug de 25.4

Awesome Lou! For hunting I am enamored with my Edguns. Love to see actual groups at the longer ranges. Would like to see a pic of complete tripod/gun setup or video! I have an old heavy duty tripod (for photography) that is only used with a long range powder burner for harmony setups. Very interested in portable airgun setup. Awaiting your next post!

Hi bertma77 here is my tripod I looked for one for 1 year , I had some issues with dexterity with my hands so I had to get one , I had a Chinese one heavy and bulky , this is what I got and I did test the RRS ones this was less then 50% less money Mine is called the KIT



I got mine in may 2021 and paid $575 they now are $605 the ball head is one piece you dont want to skimp on either for precise shooting , I got mine in may on sale for $425 they now $475 everything has gone up ugg



But I have to say my precision shooting has gotten better especially at longer distances using better equipment used to hold it ,

prior to this I ran a prediator tripod here paid $169 then I got a cloned rrs ballhead for $99 , however My shaft on tripod broke 5 times I warranteed it 3 times only to break it again , hardware broke off and tube fell apart , I ened up making a tube out of solid 7075 alum , well this worked and still is fine but the weight went up to over 2.5 times the weight of my new one , It was just too heavy so now it is a tripod for a spotter or thermal or to test scopes only ,

I love my 2 VETS unit One of my best tactical pieces and Yes it works flawless even when shooting Hi powered powder guns like 338 Lapua

Hi lendco22 , the R5m can be set up many different ways while 125 bar is great for pellets even heavy ones , I shoot alot of slugs and they like much higher speeds so I adjust my gun for ammo I use and while if I tuned my gun for the knockuts I would probably run it at 130bar , It was set up for my MP slugs which are 10 grains heavier then the knockouts

Lou, would you happen to know the twist rate on your Edgun?

And speaking of twist rates - would a 1 in 30 twist work with these Mk2 slugs???

HI Steve123 , I was using mt R5M with a LW unchoked barrel twist is 1-17., This barrel is only slightly better then the oem r5m barrel , I am pretty sure Eds 22 barrels are 1-18 ,and his barrels shoot lazers with knockouts and mp slugs , I use both , eds barrels shoot pellets better though then my LW I machined , If my mind serves me rite let me know if you want me to check it with tape and a cleaning rod , !in 30 sounds a bit slow to me for a 22 cal ?

what guns do you have with this twist rate with oem barrel ? O a, I am pretty sure fx slug liners are like 15 or 16 as with taipans about same

now I think I have some 25 cals with 1 in 25 to 30 twist

Thanks for the info Lou. 

Its a pellet specific barrel on my XFT rifle.

I should probably just get a faster twist barrel designed around mass produced slugs.

I usually refill with 4 clips 40 shots , but if I fill to max which is 300 bar and shoot till it hits reg 55 shots at this tune
