Ultra mags

Find a deal on brown boxed

My favorites are the AA Diablo Field Heavy 10.3,Gr. Even though I think they are made by JSB, they seem to be more uniform in weight and size with less deformed pellets in each tin.
One that seems to shoot well out of most of mine are the h&n baracudas. I can't tell much difference in the match or the regular.
Shopping list updated🥴
Might be able to get some per PA...still have 1 coupon left😅

What speeds / fpe are you shooting these at?

I like the H&N Barracuda and they work in many 177s I have. My preference for the H&N is the slightly harder alloy used which helps with bent skirts especially in the 8 and 10gr.

Slugs are a slippery slope but worth a trial if you do enjoy the testing process. They have not worked well in most of my 177 airguns, but in the one they have it has proved more wind resistance out to 50 yards than pellets in the 20-25 fpe range. Don't have anything to push them much harder than that.

Could be my luck but all recent JSB 10.3 tins I got have significantly more damaged pellets and couple of tins were just trashed! So only ordering FX 10.3g from UtahAir going forward.

If you are looking for slugs then the NSA 12.5 slugs are very good!!! In the lot her 1:17.7 barrel they should shoot very well, no need for 1000fps. They shot great at lowly 750fps.

Zan 10 grain work pretty well for me in my springer.
Those seem to be the one of a couple brans in slug stock most places🤔

Slinging them out of my Lothar Rotek.
I'll have to chrono; just realized I havent done that yet😅

I might try those bc I know my Walther can push them; just don't wanna push her too hard🥴😅
12.5g is a little over what she is used to; 🤔I do have some 15.7g rabbit magnums that I haven't tried in her yet too

The trick is that there is a spin, speed and projectile length for slugs that does not apply to pellets. Longer projectile in bullet form usually need faster twist rates to stablize. Frome my previous post.

"As slugs are not diabolo based stabilization the twist and speed (FPS) per caliber is foundational to stabilization. Yes, there are some other things that play a role, but this gets us in the game. The optimum projectile length for a gun with a 1 in 12 right hand twist in .177 caliber is .2418" if firing at at 700 fps. The Zan 10 grain is 0.205" and the 13 grain is 0.2435'. The minimum stabilization of a projectile that length in a 1 in 12 right hand twist barrel is 503.32 fps for the 10 grain and 710.12 with the 13 grain."

I thought I remembered a zan slug post 👀
I'm not sure honestly about slinging slugs out of the Lothar yet🤔
My winchester 1100ss though.....🤔🥴🤣🤙

TX200 MKIII. It is shown and described in the video as well.
I think that whether the springer will like slugs or not, has something to do with the barrel harmonics as well. The TX200s are not break barrels, and most likely have very tough barrels in terms of their processing in metalurgy; Therefore I think, their barrels are also better suited in resisting harmonics' shock to some extent.

Slugs depend on speed and twist to stablize. It is based a lot on projectile length. The .177 cal. 10.3 grain Zan is about .204" long and in my 1 in 12 LW barrel needs a minimum of 511 fps to stablize. It hits about 721 fpe. The 13 grain is just over .24" and needs a little over 700 fps to stablize. I get mid 500s.

Slugs operate like lower velocity bullets of other types. The lead cast groups have the various formula posted already.
