That looks to be a white-faced hornet nest, a.k.a. “Bald Faced”, public enemy #1! I’ve enjoyed taking them out with a .22Lr or just plain old rocks. My best experience was with the Gamo 220 break barrel .177 and shooting out a window which I judiciously closed after shooting.
