That little pin you found came from between the cylinder.and the breech it is used as a locator when they bolt together. How it came out i don't know the breech would have had to been awful loose or disassembled and reassembled incorrectly at one point otherwise.

Yeah I feel that less turns and one source for the plenum air would be more efficient and higher flow than two sources converging making turbulence w eachother. Also I like the plenum looking like original just larger. IMHO Id use either one to get job done but aestheticly the larger original...
