Gamo Hunter 890 and springer vs gas piston?

Hi all. I've recently reacquired my old Gamo Hunter 890 from a friend, and in doing some research, I'm not sure if this is a "springer" or gas piston rifle. It's definitely a break-barrel. This also confuses me. I've noticed the same rifles, (at Airgun Depot), listed under break-barrel and gas...

Is there a good airgun "bible"?

Just wondering if you all had a recommendation for a good airgun book. Like "Chapman's Piloting" is to boating. On a side note, one of the things I'm interested is "standard" shooting distances for various airguns. Pistols, rifles, etc. Thanks all; Artie

    Dialing in your scope.

I borrowed this quote from another thread because I didn't want to hijack that thread: I'm confused. When you dial in your scope, don't you adjust it so your pellet hits at the crosshairs? Why would you dial in something else, and then aim high? What am I missing here?

What is the significance of a 2-stage trigger?

I realize I could "google" this, but I prefer info from real people who actually use this stuff. Thanks all. Artie

Question for the varmit hunters. (fps vs c)

Hi all. I want to get back into air gunning, and was wondering about something. The speed of sound, (c), at 68 F., is around 1125 fps. There aren't many air rifles, especially in my price range, that will best this. Does this mean that a varmint will always hear the rifles report before the...
