Why no slugs allowed for most 100yd airgun benchrest?

Originally the 100 ebr was designed by FX and AOA. If you read the rules you'll notice they are what they are to give FX guns an advantage over other guns. Back then their ST barrel barely spun the pellets which are rear stabilized anyway unlike slugs which need more spin so no slugs. Even FX...

Why are we all (almost all) shooting .30 cal 44.75 pellets at 100 yards?

For one most people still believe (wrongly) that heavier pellets are less prone to wind drift. Don't forget that the larger the pellet the more surface area it has for the wind to work on as well as having to move more air out of the way. Only a higher BC will reduce wind drift and that's why...

Is there luck involved in winning the EBR?

Boy you've had your share of bad luck that's for sure. Just keep bringing it---you have some good luck coming to you. Ed.

Is there luck involved in winning the EBR?

I say this because there has never been a repeat winner at any 100 yard event that I know of. You would think that if you had a top level gun and were the best shooter you'd win them all but this is not the case. I know it isn't ACTUALLY luck but one or more of the many variables involved in...

Events EBR 2019 Benchrest - Picture Pack!

Well looking those great pictures it struct me there's never been a repeat winner at a 100 yard event. There must be a luck factor involved.....maybe wind gusts?

Events What was shot at 100yd bench rest at EBR

That's exactly what I thought also when I noticed the AOA EBR results. FX and associates including their Youtube puppets, snubbed the event and so AOA isn't doing them any favors by listing that their FX guns won most of the top spots. I don't understand Daystate's poor performance after a year...

    Results EBR 2019 1st 75 yard qualifier.

Thanks for that update. I can't believe that FX didn't even send their USA reps Ernest Rowe and Jan Tueller like they did to PAC. I see that politics and money still come before sportsmanship and comeradety!

Events Any other EBR " early birds "?

FX didn't like the support AOA was giving Daystate so the're taking there ball and bat and going home. FX USAs Ernest Rowe and Jon Tueller should be attending though like they did at the Pyramyd Air Cup.

    Barrel Band

I don't know where to get this band but I would advise against it. Air tubes/tanks expand and twist as pressure and internal temps change as you shoot affecting your POI. Bettter would be a band that anchors to the picatinny rail. JMO

STAGGERING REDWOLF SAFARI! ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY?

If you're determined to shoot a 950+ fps you can still do it with the Beast if you find a few extra fpe which is always possible. I got 72 fpe out of my original 40 fpe AAs510 .25.

STAGGERING REDWOLF SAFARI! ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY?

Would it help if you knew the Beast has a higher BC than the Monster. It will buck the wind better and hit with more energy. Top bench rest shooters (25m) swear by them. I shoot them at 900fps and they're very accurate.

    FX Radar

I wonder if one day they might take a velocity reading at 2 or more distances so BC could be calculated?

    Eat what you kill?

There are pests that need to me exterminated and not eaten. However many shooters kill what they deem as pests for the sheer joy of taking life. These hypocrites claim they are controlling their numbers when in reality they know that isn't true. At least be honest with your self, you don't have...

Sufficient magnification and scope for 100 Yards and silhouette

If you're shooting paper targets 20X is enough to shoot well but you won't always be able to see the pellet holes.

Can we be honest about group sizes?

No, I've only been into this hobby for a short time but would like to read them. Where do I find your books? I'm having trouble with the "Search" on this forum so I can't even find your posts. Glad to hear though that someone understands one lucky group doesn't help anyone assess there own...

A "Blue Wolf" and a pack of "Red Wolves" on a "Safari"!

Is that a Daystate Safari Claudio is shooting? When are they supposed to be available if you don't know someone?

Can we be honest about group sizes?

A lot of you were honest and I appreciate it. Thanks to your posts I now know that my groups are what most people shoot and it's not my gun or pellets. Ted Bier had a 10 shot sub MOA at 100 yards but does that really mean anything when the other 1000s of groups he shot were larger? And yes...

Can we be honest about group sizes?

I know how it is you shoot a great group and you can't wait to tell everyone. I've done it myself. But this can be misleading and cause someone to purchase a gun anticipating the same results only to be bitterly disappointed. I'd like to know, honestly, what the AVERAGE group sizes you're...
