if you getting a wire edge when recrowning then the method is too aggressive. you should push a pellet through with a carbon fiber rod it will surely snag badly on an wire edge. it is also quite possible that that aggressive abrasive may render the crown front no longer perfectly flush all around.

how did you attach the 80grit to the dowel ? did you drill with water so the emory would not clog ?
