If I can remember correctly, from the bottom of the base to ring bottom is approximately 1" and total height to the the center of the ring is about 1 3/8", though the set I have is 30mm and have a Photon RT mounted in them. If you find the height is too much, you can compensate with a cheek...

Mine went through the same spa treatment as yours not too long ago and yes the tolerance/fit is tight, but that's what makes it stay put when screws are tightened. I actually had bought this mount back in the late 90's, so pretty sure that it's not manufactured anymore...shame though. I searched...
