    LIFE IS GOOd

Came home from church this afternoon. Temperature around 95, humid. Stripped down to shorts and tee. Sat on the porch and killed five curious ground squirrels. Back into the recliner, watched the Dodgers kick the big mouth Padres asses. Ahh. Life is good.

    I’m On AMission

Using an HW97 in .22. No modifications. On my last kill a squirrel had crawled up on a tree stump. As I was sighting in for the kill another squirrel crawled up beside it. I re sighted and shot that one. In the scope I watched the squirrels eyes. It had this oh poop look as it slowly slid off...

    I’m On AMission

They are not tree/grey squirrels. There is a hunting season for Greys. Those I don’t kill

    I’m On AMission

They also ate my entire apple tree crop. Plus, I saw one feasting on one of the dead ones I'd previously shot. Disgusting creatures.

    I’m On AMission

I kill 2-3 squirrels a day. That’s over, now. When I caught one with my garden tomato in its mouth that was it. I’m on a vendetta. Yesterday, I sat on my porch for several hours and killed over 20. Today, eight. Don’t mess with papa’s tomatoes. I’m a squirrel serial killer. I feel no remorse.

A pre-applied threadlocker that makes adjustments possible?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I put a small dab of blue lock tight on both trigger guard screws. It works fine. Still shoots dead on. I’m happy but the squirrels are not.

    I’ve GOT A SCREW LOOSE

While sitting on my porch feeding squirrels fresh lead sandwiches, I looked down and saw a bolt on the ground. Apparently, the bolt in the trigger guard had fallen out. That gave me a chance to tighten all the visible bolts in the hw97. Does anyone recommend using light lock tight on any of...

    WHAT CAN I EXPECT??

Using my HW97 I’m confident of hitting my squirrel every time . However, I don’t always get a one shot head kill. On a gut shot, can I assume the squirrel will bleed out? Or, will it survive. It’s not always easy to get a second shot when the critter is flopping around on the ground. Would...

    HW97 UPDATE

This is my first full season with my HW97. Last year I only had a few months before winter. It was a learning experience with much trial and error. By October the HW was in the closet for a long winter’s nap. With a warm May the squirrels were venturing out. My shooting distance is 45 yards or...

What did you do airgun related today.

Dispatched three ground squirrels. They are coming out of their snuggly winter dens forgetting how I harassed them last summer. They will soon remember.

    N/A I think I've reached a tipping point...

I’m 77 and cocking is indeed a challenge. I’m doing some shoulder exercises that are helping. As for loading, I’m using a pellet pen.

N/A Springers and how far above Sea level you are….

I’m wondering if the two squirrels I shot in the head at 3500 feet would be any more dead if I shot them at 1100 feet elevation.

    Confidence Builder

I received my HW97 about a week ago. During that time I’ve shot about 400 rounds at paper, cans and shotgun shells. In my practice I’ve adjusted the trigger down probably too much. I’ve spent many hours sighting in, first at 20, then 40 and finally settled on 35 yards. Most of my pests will be...

    Squirrel hunting 22lr vs pcp

I’m an ace shot with my .22LR, but with only two days on an HW97 most squirrels are safe. Just yesterday I had a ground squirrel at 25 yards sit and stare at me big, dumb and happy while I shot and reloaded four times. Eventually, I’ll be a squirrel killer, after I PRACTICE.

    Hatsan Hatsan Fever

Hatsan was my first springer I took delivery in September 2024. After five shots the cocking would not lock. I returned it that same day. Once burned twice shy. I now have an HW97 and am very satisfied.
