.22 caliber long range kill Poll for 2018

It is good but I find I have it on 15 power 95% of the time. The option to turn down the power is nice and better for my 12 year old kiddo but I have a 16x SWFA Mil-Quad that is a little sharper and much less expensive.

.22 caliber long range kill Poll for 2018

140 yards. Starling. FX Streamline. 15.89 JSB 900 fps. SWFA 3x15 FFP. I spent about half an hour trying to shoot a starling coming to a nest at 20 yards. He came in and saw me as they are prone to do and landed on a fence post 140 yards away. No wind. I knew the bottom of my reticle should...

Hunt and EAT starlings anyone ?

We ate some this summer a few times. If you eat dove then starling is not much of a reach in size or taste. My 10 year old loves them. I have no problem eating them myself. I had a good friend from Italy. He told me they eat everything there from minnows to tweety birds.

    Calling Starlings

I can get into them all year where I live in Montana. In the winter I go to a cattle feedlot where they snuggle up to the cows to stay warm and eat the feed. I usually get 20-50 on a outing there. In the spring it is great fun to go hide around large nesting trees. In a good outing, I might...

    Calling Starlings

I have had them land right in my decoys a lot. Usually they land on the perimeter though. They are normally on high alert and you have to shoot quick maybe because of the lack of movement. If they start feeding I can usually get more than one out of a encounter.

    Calling Starlings

I have done well with starling decoys set on the ground in areas where they are feeding like cut hay fields or lawns. I have had my best luck combining elevated decoys (on a fence or hay bail) with some on the ground in feeding positions. I have shot starlings a few of times that got stuck up...

    Calling Starlings

I have been close to pulling the trigger on a call also. Foxpro does offer some starling mp3s to put on it but they are all starling in distress type sounds. I think it would attract them but in my experience when I have wounded them they mostly just hover and are on high alert. Foxpro told...

fx streamline 25 cal squirrel assasinator

That brings back some memories! I am 50 and started out in grade school with a Daisy Red Rider and was a menace to the neighborhood. In Jr High I got a Daisy 880 and was even more dangerous. In high school I bought a RWS 48 with my paper route money (still have the gun) and that was a new...

fx streamline 25 cal squirrel assasinator

I am having a good time with mine too. I can travel about 8 minutes to a bunch of public land on the edge of town and hunt starlings. I either hide by some trees they like or set up some decoys where they are feeding. I got my streamline .22 in February and have shot 922 starlings. I don't...

    The 500 Royale or Streamline.25 need input/Help!

I have no experience with the Royale but I own a Streamline .22. I got the synthetic stock thinking it would be the tougher option for hunting. I broke my stock where your thumb would rap around the pistol grip shortly after purchase. The inside of the stock is made out of a type of foam that...

    FX Streamline

No problem Alpontigo. I don't know anybody that shoots air rifles where I live in Montana and it is fun to share! I have had a RWS 54 for 1 1/2 years and have shot that a lot. I have shot probably over 8000 pellets through it and whole lot of bad birds. It weighs about 12 lbs though! This...

    FX Streamline

I have about 8 mm between the 42 mm objective and the barrel and it sits about 1.75" above the bore Here is a pic of an improvement to the safety. My kid had a bionicle lego part that fit perfectly over the safety lever. Hope he doesn't see it! Much better thumb access. I already had one...

    FX Streamline

I just put a 16x SWFA on my FX Streamline 22 with some medium Accushot 30mm rings (#RGPM-30M4) and it seems about perfect. I am 1.75" above the breech. It seems like the Hawke scope would work OK also although there is more hanging below the tube diameter than the SWFA. It looks like you can...

    FX Streamline

I just got my .22 streamline synthetic today. I shot about 100 15.89 gr JSB pellets through it. I was getting about 870 fps on high power, 725 on medium power and and 535 fps on low power. Real accurate but the fps seem a bit low compared to what others have found. I live at 4000 feet...

    starling mayhem

Thanks Smaug. There are a few good reasons why I might eventually put the Model 54 away for a PCP but accuracy is not really one of them. My next purchase is looking like the Model 54 in 177. I am curious where you live where there are no starlings?

    starling mayhem

Thank you! That was shooting about 30 yards and 45 degree incline. I only missed a couple of shots. The Model 54 is really accurate. I have hit starlings to 107 yards and if the wind is manageable they are in big trouble to 75 yards. On a calm day at a cattle feedlot and shooting out the...

Three Starlings and Two Moor Hens.

I have hunted them in bushes here in the summer when they are eating berries. Very difficult. There is always a twig in the way. I can get the guard bird in the top of the tree sometimes but the rest fly away. Finding them landing in the dead trees was very helpful. In the dead trees there...
