I believe that would be a replacement barrel. I have an HW .22 barrel with serial # HS3214 that I bought to replace the barrel on my R1.

In addition to removing the “lawyer spring”, I put a lighter trigger spring in mine. The trigger is now actually fairly decent.

Actually: R9 = HW95 R6=HW99

It’s still confusing. So my serial number starts with D947….so December 94 would be the build date. The gun above serial number starts with 497….so April 97 build date? That’s all well and good, but then what is the extra “7” in my D947 serial number?

If it’s a new HW50, then it was also sold as a Beeman R6 or, just to keep things interesting, a HW99.

Thanks for clarifying. Any idea why their other guns, like the one above, don’t have a letter for the month at the beginning of the serial number?

I have a similar era 392G (co2). My serial number is D947XXXXXX. But has the same trigger/receiver/stock design. Interestingly mine has the old Racine, WI address on the receiver. Someone told me the “D” is for December, but not sure if that is correct (what would they have used for June/July...

Awesome collection! I have a 392G and is a great gun. Surprisingly accurate. I knocked off the rear site and added a Williams peep site.

I wouldn’t worry too much about “the moly drying out”. Moly is the gold standard for high pressure metal to metal lubrication. Moly should ideally be “burnished” into the compression tube. Where it is dry, and stays that way indefinitely. Moly, if applied correctly, will not diesel. If someone...

As the old saying goes “once bitten, twice shy”. Hopefully this experience doesnt put too much of a damper on things. Airguns can sometimes be a real exercise in frustration. At least you don’t have too much money wrapped up in it.

Considering the bluing is all but gone and has some light rust, as well as missing sights. I would say maybe $150 on a good day.

Kind of hard to tell from this picture. Looks like possibly HW50 or HW30. Would need a clearer picture of the end cap.

That’s a nice one! The early R9’s were the best looking ones they made. Before the laser etching and questionable stock designs.

I think there was one for sale on eBay recently that was from Beemans personal collection. I believe these were considered one of, if not the finest CO2 guns ever made.

The old style ones are solid as a rock. But you only get one notch.

My R1 with stock internals definitely had spring torque. The slip washer was bent (due to the splines/feet on the spring guide) which I am sure contributed to this
