What pistol did you shoot today

Took out the Crosman C40 today. One of my heftier all-metal pistols. Makes an effective club if you run out of ammo :) Seems to work very well with 7.0g flathead pellets and I've found that it's important to seat the pellets just below the face of the magazine (with something slightly curved)...

    Tuning Umarex M1A1 Thompson Repair

That’s the video I used to help me pull the thing apart. I don’t speak German so had to go strictly by the images. The fire control mechanics are pretty complex so it helps to take a lot of pictures. Had a towel over it when I pulled the halves apart in case any tiny springs went flying. The...

    Tuning Umarex M1A1 Thompson Repair

That should ease the impact as you say. My MP40 suffered a broken dowel pin early on as a result of the bolt slamming against it (I suspect ). Said dowel pin splintered in such a way as to indicate poor heat treatment. I replaced it with a domestically made pin and have had no problems since...

That’s a classy looking rig! Looks solid, too. I’d like to see more made like this

What pistol did you shoot today

The HW45 is the only airgun I have that teaches me grip control that I can apply to my PBs. It kicks, and I love it for that.

What pistol did you shoot today

Oh, one more thing. Even with the gun all set up, be prepared to blast through several thousand rounds before you can reliably hit anything by hipshot-fanning 🙂👍

What pistol did you shoot today

Thanks. I like those sorts of projects. I have the Peacemaker, can’t say I’m any good fanning it. To do that I’d need to mod it. Never had a Shiloh. You’ll have to tell us how that works out. I did get a Barra Schofield, and it’s a heavy slug of metal. Much slower than the Colt to draw. Anyway...

What pistol did you shoot today

“Fast guns”, aka “race guns”, started out as stock six-guns. Modifications for fanning included taller hammers, lighter springs, deeper bolt notches, and angled cylinder bolts. All necessary because fanning put such a strain on the gun that it wouldn’t last long without these mods. Anyway, I’m...

Lets see those pistols turned carbine!!!

    Does this qualify? 🤔

    Tuning Umarex M1A1 Thompson Repair

The more I think about this, the more I think the right solution might be to modify the cone valve. I’m thinking that the bolt needs to move rearward more slowly but still slam forward with enough momentum to activate the poppet valve. That sounds a bit like the way a shock absorber works. Not...

    Tuning Umarex M1A1 Thompson Repair

Yes … they’re all made of white metal. And doomed to wear out rather quickly. Fortunately we can use the existing parts as patterns to make proper replacements as you suggested, and end up with something that will last. 👍

What pistol did you shoot today

My wife hasn’t shown much interest in my airgun tinkering, until now. I made the mistake of handing her the MP40, saying “here, give it a try”. On full auto. I’ve created a monster 🫣.

I agree, the next step would be to try a lighter spring. This might cause the bolt to blow back faster, in which case I’d want to have that recoil buffer installed. The cone valve (in the part that directs gas into the barrel) has a *very* light spring, and I suspect this spring has everything...

    N/A Chambers no longer shipping

That’s ok, I’ll keep my Diana springers. If they need parts that are no longer available, well … that’s what the lathe and mill are for …

How’s that M1A1 mod going? Curious to know how much the firing rate slowed down

What pistol did you shoot today

Yep, that’s it. The four tiny indents in the top hole are the only points of contact of the square shaft that passes through that hole. As you might imagine, that’s not much contact area and a lot of slop could develop from wear if that area isn’t kept well lubed.

Try to get an extra cam ring for it. I’ve been told those can wear out or break (like when the loader jams) although I’ve never experienced either. But I do keep a spare just in case since they can be hard to find

I do appreciate the offer. Thank you. But we’re in the middle of downsizing right now. The place is bursting at the seam and we’re unloading stuff left and right. Seems we spent half our lives collecting it all and now we’ll spend the over half getting rid of it 😳

That’s quite a process! I like those sorts ofprojects. I do have some casting experience, mostly sand casting automotive parts, but very little with the intricacies of models. I’m not sue my old eyes could capture all that fine detail.
