I think I did my part

25 shot group at 50 in light to medium wind. Thomas Slug gun and 38gr slugs. Added another 25 for 50 total and messed it up a little. Group measured .361" outside to outside at widest part. Around .26 moa. Very pleased Mike

25 shot groups at 100 with FX 25.4

Shot a little this morning in pretty nice conditions. Never held more than around 2" either side. New .875" barrel HPX using the FX redesigns from the tin. Was playing with the tuner looking for best vertical. 25 shot groups. The last group would be an easy 249 on the RMAC 100y...

    Grands at 50y

Shot 2 cards at 50y today with the grands at 930 fps. Wind was fairly light but unsettled. First card was a 250 19x. This one's a little better. I can't really say these are noticeably better in the wind than the 25.4 monsters. I did drop a partial tin of these on the floor and although...

    Grands at 100y

Was heavy wind all day. Got this in just before dark when the wind was only 8-17 mph. 😀 Wind was fishtailing between 11:00 and 1:00. 45 shots at 100y. 930 fps.

First 50y cards with Altaros Atp king

Already working on the setup for the next Unlimited worlds event in Finland. These are the 2 very first cards shot with Thomas Slug gun and @Altaros 40gr atp king slugs at 890 fps. Very good first showing. I'm certain it will get better. 😀 Mike

One Piece vs Two Piece...the tale of the tape.

Shot 6 cards this morning with the intention of seeing how scores compare when using a one piece Randolph rest with sandbag top and a typical two piece setup with mechanical front using same top and a rear sand bag. The saving grace of winter in my part of Colorado is that the cold is often...

Wow...can't believe how much harder 50m is over 50y.

Well, not really...but those that embrace the metric system would really like you to believe it is. 😀 The Wrabf cards are a little harder, but I've been staying close enough to the middle that it's not very different over the N5O cards since the X is the same size. 749 53x Missed one. 🙁 Light...

Pretty nice 62 shot group in ugly wind at 50y.

This is 62 shots at 50y in a pretty rough fishtailing wind. I’m pretty blown away with the ability of this to cut through the crap with 39gr slugs. Mike

Congrats again to Giovanni Atzeni and Carmen Papaleo….this time in 50m Unlimited

The Italian 50m Unlimited Air Rifle Championship match took place last week. There are 7 qualifiers throughout the year and the championship is the battle of the top 20 qualifiers. Giovanni Atzeni took an easy victory posting a 33 point lead over second place using his 22 caliber Thomas HPX...

Great Shooting at AAFTA Field Target Nationals

The AAFTA Field Target Nationals took place last weekend under some damp and less than desirable conditions. Bill Rabbitt led the Hunter division both days and came away with the win and the High Overall score for the match of 112/120. Greg Sauve also led wire to wire in WFTF and racked up...

Congratulations to Carmen Papaleo and Giovanni Atzeni

The Italian Air Rifle Benchrest Championships were concluded recently and Carmen Papaleo came out on top….winning Heavy Varmint with a score of 746 40x. Giovanni Atzeni was a very close second place with a 746 38x. I thank them very much for choosing Thomas Air rifles as their competition...

    Western Slope BR N50 matches

Irwin Segerman and Jeffrey Hernández made it out for the N50 match on Saturday. We had cold temps in the 40s to start, but fairly nice conditions. Things warmed up into the low 60s by the time we finished up. Match 1 Card 1 Jeff Hernández 250 17x Mike Niksch 250 15x Irwin Segerman 242...

    Nice group at 88y

Here is a 25 shot group at 88y yesterday in light wind with FX 25.4 gr monsters right from the tin. Outside to outside of group is .858”. These pellets print a single hole of about .180”….so .858” - .180” = .678” ctc. 1 moa at 88y is .921”. .678” / .921” = .736 MOA for 25 shots at 88y with...

    Might still have it

It’s been a really long time since I’ve shot FT…but sat down in no coat wftf position and shot this N50 card at 27y. It’s not terrible for a 12fpe gun. Missed a few wind holds, but would probably still make a 244 or 245 on the wrabf 25m card. I did walk around like a 100 year old man for 10...

    JTS 25.4 on N50

Jeffrey gave me a tin of the JTS 25.4 pellets to try at Nationals. Took me 1/2 a tin to find how they needed to be shot but once I did they performed well at 50 in variable conditions from light to heavy holds outside the rings. I don’t see them as any better than the FX pellets , although...

    Battling the Green Monster

Got to shoot a 50y Rimfire match today at the Cedaredge Rod and Gun Club. They use the USBR (green monster) cards which are the most difficult inward scored targets out there. The 9 ring is smaller than the N50 10 ring. The 10 is 1/3 the size of the N50 10 ring at .100”. Xs must completely...

Western Slope BR Club N50 Results 7-13-23

Was a nice morning. Jack Behrman from Cedaredge made it over to shoot. For me, most holds were outside the black or outside the rings with a few around 1 ring on the second card. Jack did very well with his Avenger on the second match. Mike

    Shot some ARA Unlimited cards

Ran out of N50 cards so I shot in some ARA unlimited with the slug gun instead. The 100 ring is .500” and it is outward scored…meaning you must stay inside the ring when plugged to score 100. They are tough, but a lot of fun. Wind was not bad…probably nothing over 6 mph. 2341.67 average Mike
