On reading the manual the rangefinder in the commercial scope is not automatic - and needs the game to be measured in feet.

Is the red circle showing the point of impact in the first video a feature of the scope?

I can build several higher resolution scope cams ala rolaids bench on youtube

On further study I think I should have put the $200 in a jar toward buying the commercial scope


I suspect the limitation is in the camera and/or the graphics processor they are using.

It's been done and is on the market for $700. I hope a cruder, no servos approach will be suffiicent.

I have an idea percolating for an auto-ranging rat scope including DVR. Might have problems with one eyed rats though :-) Percolation has reached the point of ordering a couple hundred dollars worth of parts and illuminators.
