I'd probably agree with you on guns in that power range. Perhaps the use case for a 22 might be when you want to hit something hard at closer ranges. That 22 pellet will maintain more energy at a certain distance.

Thanks everybody for the reply, slipped a little piece of folded duck tape into the front of the stock and everything is solid now. My OCD side wants to return this to get it check up but I assume this kinds of minor tolerance issues are pretty common?
