Would you give these trash panda a pass?

    Big fat NOPE!

Mid-long range tripod mount bird blaster

For me it's just being lazy and not taking it on and off. I'm always going back and forth from tripod to bipod, so I just leave it on all the time.

    Racoon massacre?

Setting up a bait station is ideal. I've dedicated a corner of my backyard to it, dubbed the "kill corner". I picked up a cheap driveway motion sensor from harbor freight to alert me to their presence which works extremely well. My go to bait is peanuts in shell. I've found almost every critter...

FX Set it and forget it

Glad to hear others speak about the ES opening up on lower power wheel settings. I was going crazy trying to tune my Maverick last year to shoot both 34gr heavies and lighter 26.6gr Atomics. No matter what I tried I couldn't get a "low" extreme spread when turning the power wheel down to 4 or 5...

FX Set it and forget it

You should be able to find a happy medium, where you can shoot slugs on PW7, the turn down to shoot pellets. I found it's a compromise on my Maverick. To get the 100% best accuracy I have to tune for the specific ammo of choice. So tune for the slugs, but a lower power wheel setting should be...

    Racoon massacre?

Trash pandas are SUPER tough, they can take serious punishment and keep on trucking. I suggest headshots only with an airgun, anything 30 caliber and under. I've already taken out a dozen of them this summer, so I'm speaking from experience. I use an FX Maverick in 25 caliber and always wait for...

Mid-long range tripod mount bird blaster

What I like best about the BOG deathgrip is how you can dial in the pan/tilt tension so the rifle is free to move around, but when you stop it will hold its position without having to tighten the adjustment.

Groundhogs, is .22 cal and 30 FPE enough?

Most of the groundhogs I've taken out have been fat monsters, definitely well over 10lbs. All taken out with headshots from my 25 caliber FX Maverick.

FX Maverick strikes again, trash pandas exterminated

Thanks everyone. I've taken out so many this summer I'm losing count, but I think those were numbers 9, 10, 11 of the season. The ironic thing earlier that day was I actually set up outside on a bench and shot some groups off a sandbag, first time I had done that this summer. Also, I setup my...

Mid-long range tripod mount bird blaster

Yes, it's a 600mm barrel. It feels amazing on the bipod and or tripod, very balanced and extremely easy to manipulate. The bipod is a genuine Atlas, which is what I use if I'm not clamped into the BOG tripod.

Mid-long range tripod mount bird blaster

I use a very simple setup with my Maverick, just a BOG deathgrip tripod. It works extremely well for me, very sturdy and easy to adjust the tension to pan/tilt but not be too loose. It was one of the best airgun accessories I've purchased.

FX Maverick strikes again, trash pandas exterminated

The racoons are very destructive around my property, so I'm happy that I was able to also take out the upcoming next generation. If I hadn't taken out a family of 4 a couple weeks ago, I'd have been more excited for the triple.

FX Maverick strikes again, trash pandas exterminated

I had a feeling I wasn't done with the trash pandas. The two little ones were spotted about a week ago on one of my security cams, so I knew it was only a matter of time before they'd get introduced to Mr. Maverick. Last night they came with momma, which I strategically took out first with a...

Groundhogs, is .22 cal and 30 FPE enough?

I've taken out groundhogs with many different air rifles, they are my number one enemy so I used whatever I had at the time to take them out. Many years ago I used a Gamo break barrel in 177 caliber, bought from a local sporting goods store, since that was the only quiet gun I owned. I managed...

Another trash panda down, big one this time!

Funny you say that as I was also trying to wait for a broadside head shot to present itself. I've only been "hunting" racoons for about a year, yet I've taken out well over a dozen. Just this summer alone I've eliminated 8 of those bandits. A broadside headshot between the eye and ear is...

Another trash panda down, big one this time!

They can be sneaky at times, as this guy had been dodging me for almost a week. Had to put some shelled peanuts out there to keep him occupied. Groundhogs are the most difficult for me. They are so skittish it's hard to not scare them off before lining up a shot.

Another trash panda down, big one this time!

Thank you for the kind words. I wasn't using slugs, just the standard diabolo style 34gr FX pellets. Most of my pesting at home is done inside of 60 yards, so pellets get the job done just fine. Last year I spent a bunch of both time and money on testing a ton of different slugs, ultimately...

Another trash panda down, big one this time!

Been trying to get a shot off on this guy for about a week now. Finally got the opportunity last night and took care of business. First time I've needed to send a follow up shot in awhile. Distance was about 40yds, used my 25 caliber Maverick shooting FX 34gr at 915fps. First shot was to the...

    FX Maverick Sniper .22 Tune

One tip I can give you is make sure you have a chronograph for tuning purposes. I've found nearly all pellets shoot best under 950fps, with most performing best under 925fps. The 25.39g Monsters were the one exemption that did shoot well at higher speeds.
