    Advice on initial purchase.

.177 or .22 will be just fine for house sparrows. If you get a PCP, .22 will consume more air per shot (unless you turn the power way down to get equal energy to a .177) so you will need to pump it more often. Not an issue, just something to consider. .22 is typically more forgiving shot...

    Advice on initial purchase.

If you can swing it, that Kral w/ a $60 pump + a cheap Hawke Vantage 2-7 scope (all in for about $450 after a tin of pellets), that would be an ideal setup that would serve you extremely well and would likely vastly outperform anything else you would be able to find in your budget. It will be...

N/A Air Arms Tx 200 or Weihrauch HW97

Can't go wrong with either. If you pick up an HW, check Krale first since they are usually hundreds of dollars cheaper if you order from them. I personally prefer the TX200/Pro Elite over the HW97/98. I currently own a TX200, Pro Elite and .20 Santa Rosa HW85. All of them are outstanding guns...

Best deal on a decent scope?

Whatever scope you're looking for (unless it's a DTC business model like Arken, Blackhound etc.) always check Dvor. It's the Optics Planet clearing house - they blow stuff out all the time. 30-70% off. Clearance section @ Midway USA and CameraLandNY too.

Between these two scopes which would you pick? For under $200 is there a better scope?

No reason not to choose the Mil-Dot option for an airgun. Before you pull the trigger on a new Hawke from Pyramyd Air, check the classifieds here. Lots of sweet optics deals that might 1) save you some money on that identical scope or 2) get you a little bit more scope (12 or 16x max...

    FX Left handed FX Maverick.

FX used to make very limited numbers of left handed bullpups. A buddy of mine had a very rare completely left handed Wildcat MK1. I wish they still made a dedicated lefty bullpup. The Impact being very lefty friendly is cool but it's nice to have a rifle that feels purpose built for ya.

Air Arms TX200 VS PROSPORT which one?

I don't have a lot of experience with the Pro Sport but have extensive experience with a TX200. I would get the TX200 (it's much more popular). For guns above 12 FPE, the cocking effort on the pro sport doesn't really feel that hot. The TX200 isn't just more popular on the forums, most FT...

    Looking at carbon fiber tank.

Not a "tank expert" by any means but I would get the largest capacity tank you can 1) afford and 2) comfortably transport to the range. I have 2 of the 74 CU FT tanks and I wish I had 90's. If you are filling to 250 BAR then that extra capacity really does make a difference. One of my tanks...

    .30 Skout @100Y

Mike - that's some fantastic shooting. Are you doing any kind of sorting for those groups?

Do you shoot using safety glasses?

When working with any sort of compressed air, I think it's very foolish not too. I work in the firearms industry full time. Anytime I am anywhere near a range I have eye pro on. Things happen and a crazy thing only has to happen to you once to change your life. I've had situations where a blow...

Air Arms - rebrand, partnership, and new products!

I highly doubt that all Air Arms manufacturing will move to the PreciHole facility. It will likely be a joint operation with the standard line (XTi, S400, S5xx, TX200, etc.) being made in the UK and other more "budget minded" options made by precihole and imported by AA. Just speculating, but...

Hunter Class Scope Recommendations For ~$600 Budget

I don't know if it's been mentioned but the Mueller Tactical 8-32 was very popular for a while at my club back in NY. I knew some hunter guys that regularly shot 80%+ with that scope. Biggest downside is it's just a standard mil-dot (which can be VERY serviceable, but a 1/2 Mil Dot is a huge...

WFTF scope setup and usage help

When I was shooting a Falcon X50, I would range @ 50 and shoot @25. With the Hawke Sidewinder 8-40 I range @ 40 and shoot @ 24. The longer I do this FT thing, the close I am to doing EVERYTHING @40. Switching magnification takes you out of your groove, wastes valuable time, etc.

Hunter Class Scope Recommendations For ~$600 Budget

Midas Tac is great. Personally, I don't like FFP for field target. I don't think it makes sense vs an SFP option. If I were to start shooting Hunter Class again, I would take my Hawke Sidewinder 30 off of my speed silo gun and use that. Depth of field on these really excellent. Even @16x they...

    Joe is really angry.

If I had to guess the brand, I'd say "Osprey". Cheap, bottom of the barrel optics that market themselves as "military grade" and are more expensive than Vector and Discovery but about 10% as good.

Air Arms New S510 dumped all air

I ordered a bunch from theoringstore.com McMaster Carr should have them too. Not a crazy rare size so should be easy enough to source.

Air Arms New S510 dumped all air

The only thing that makes sense is you blew the o-ring that seals the valve to the valve body. Basically Air is allowed to blow past the valve but the transfer port and breech seal are still in tact which is why the air is rushing out the barrel. It's Part #6 on Page 18 of this manual (S966...

What color lenses for shooting glasses

I use the Oakley TR-45's almost exclusively for all shooting - indoor, outdoor, wherever. Typically a purple, amber, orange, or yellow is a popular choice. The Oakley TR-45's have a Red base (TR = Target Red).

Benjamin Armada, looking for tips on best mods..

I never said I wished I bought a different rifle - I said that I had spent as much as it would have cost to buy a different rifle. Not the same. If someone wants to buy a gun to get the best performance per dollar spent, then I think it makes more sense to buy one of the airguns I listed rather...
