For new guys, do not let cost run you off

Honestly, unless you're a teenager and this is your first foray into a hobby none of this should be a surprise. Pretty much every hobby has a range of entry level cost going from a minimum of inexpensive and/or used gear all the way to spend as much as you want. Take a look at astrophotography...

Tuning m3 hammer spring adjustment doesn't change speed

Yep, that's the way I've found works the best to get a 'conservative' and balanced tune that avoids extreme settings on any of the controls. The only thing I'd add is to start out with the hammer controls set to the circled factory recommended starting points of macro wheel 8 and micro...

Tuning m3 hammer spring adjustment doesn't change speed

I think it's more of a timing thing than an air volume thing. The less restricted port allows plenum pressure to 'transfer' to the barrel faster. Sorta like using faster burning powder in a firearm. The ramp up to full pressure behind the pellet happens quicker producing more acceleration...

Tuning m3 hammer spring adjustment doesn't change speed

I think Frostbite was right. You're getting all 80 bar can give you with the lightest hammer strike and the valve adjust is simply reducing speed from there. You need to increase second reg pressure. Probably to something like 120 bar or more, but take it up in 5-10bar increments. You should see...

Tuning m3 hammer spring adjustment doesn't change speed

Gonna need some more specifics like caliber, pellet weight, barrel length, actual speeds, etc. I assume you mean 80 bar on the second reg. All the valve adjuster does is increase the resistance to open the valve. It's the last thing you should adjust after getting the speeds you're looking for...

STUD DTM Loader and STUD Mag Loader Systems

Yep, if you're looking for an excuse to stop spending money on slugs one of these will do it. They only work with pellets and once you escape the tedium of 'one at a time' hand loading you won't want to go back, especially in 177. I picked up a DTM in both 177 and 22. The 177 one is a little...

    FX, 480cc bottle length ?

Tuning I can arrange modified front part plenum of FX Impact M3

Bhaur, the parts arrived today in perfect condition via DHL. They were obviously inspected at least once but repackaged securely. I was frankly amazed at the short travel time. I can't say at this time when I will install them, the gun they were intended for is working really well now but there...

Tuning M3 Suddenly Dumping Air- Help, please!

Ok my second thought was the first reg. They seem to be prone to funny stuff. I've already replaced one on an Mk3 that was acting weird. Creeping up, then taking too long to return to set point after a shot. I just haven't worked out how it could cause the symptoms you describe. But if it were...

Tuning M3 Suddenly Dumping Air- Help, please!

Huh, well that wouldn't be the first bet I've lost. It would be the bathtub for sure now. j/k Sorry, but I'm fresh out of ideas. I'm sorta surprised the FX folks haven't chimed in by now and told you to call them.

Tuning M3 Suddenly Dumping Air- Help, please!

Yep, I'm 'almost' prepared to wager that you've lost the bushing on the bottle valve stem that makes it an Mk3 bottle valve. All the refills have been doing is recharging the plenum.

Tuning M3 Suddenly Dumping Air- Help, please!

I would remove the bottle and check that the bushing is still on the valve stem.

Tuning M3 Suddenly Dumping Air- Help, please!

Ok not recommending it, but at this point I'd be tempted to drop the whole gun in a bathtub full of water just to verify that air is actually escaping the gun. To me the key seems to be the lack of any sound. Are there physical signs that pressure is actually lost beyond what the gauges are...

Advise needed: Getting maximum shot count from FX Impact

Ah ha, that explains the lack of anything with Mk2 on it in my manual. I'm afraid not adjusting the reg down under pressure is such an ingrained habit now that I'll probably never do it any other way. LOL. Thanks for the info.

Advise needed: Getting maximum shot count from FX Impact

Yep, it appears the later model Mk2 doesn't have the minimum reg pressure warning in the manual. The parts diagram for the power plenum model still shows a valve spring inside the plenum but it also shows a spring under the forward adjuster like the Mk3s. I still think you might improve...

Tuning M3 Suddenly Dumping Air- Help, please!

Rather than putting an ear to the muzzle just open the bolt and listen at the breech. If air is going out the barrel it has to be coming through the transfer port. It should be much easier to hear at the breech. There really isn't any other place I can think of that could 'quietly' leak that...

Advise needed: Getting maximum shot count from FX Impact

If it's a stock Mk2 with the original small plenum, and you still have the manual that came with it, go to page 13 at the bottom... "NOTICE-NEVER adjust the regulator below 100 BAR as damage to the system may occur and will void your warranty!" Apparently, the Mk2 with stock plenum...

Tuning What am I doing wrong? M3 .25

I just re-read the thread and didn't see it mentioned anywhere, what length barrel are we working with? It doesn't really change anything discussed so far but it will tend to effect the final reg pressure you end up with. I run my Mk3 .22/700mm at 105bar and can push 18gr H+N barracudas from...

Tuning What am I doing wrong? M3 .25

Oh, and when testing increments you don't need to step up one at at time. I usually step up 2 at a time, like shoot a couple at 10, 12, 14 macro. Saves pellets.
