The HW98 is what has barrel droop in this case. How does one “adjust” the barrel upwards without damaging it or causing wandering POI problems down the road? Doesn’t the lockup mechanism have strict tolerances?

It depends entirely on what you are trying to do and what you want your scope to do for you. Are you primarily a hunter, plinker, or target shooter? One thing I learned long ago is that no one optic can do everything perfectly...
