Dairy Farm Starlings and Feeding the cats....

Incredible. Great shooting. Great video. Thanks.

    The Pest Population

Why don't we get a general idea of what our contribution to this worthy cause is? Why doesn't everyone submit their totals for starlings, English sparrows, and pigeons for the past 10 years. So for me, my contribution to this effort is at least 2,500.

    PCP Reliability

I don’t think PCP reliability and repairability is given enough attention. On numerous pesting hunts with friends they have had mechanical problems with their guns. I have been shooting several Edgun M3 s for a decade and other than needing to change out o-rings they just keep on working...

Check This Out - Starling Disposal

For years I have been dumping dead starlings in my back yard. They are always gone by morning. So I put up a trail camera to capture the clean up effort Check it out.

    Tuning Matador R3 & R3M Great Choice

I have owned 2 Matadors for over a decade. I shoot them all the time pesting and target shooting. I find them extremely reliable, durable with little maintenance. They are easy to work on with very few parts. Since I haven’t owned that many other airguns I can’t say for sure how they...

    Sparrows & Starlings FYI

Out of all 9,700 species analyzed, four birds reached what the researchers call the "billion club," or species with an estimated global population of over a billion. These included the house sparrow at 1.6 billion, the European starling at 1.3 billion, the ring-billed gull at 1.2 billion, and...

    Nothing but Starlings

For me a good day of pesting is 100+. How many can you get in a single evening? Nice shooting and video.

I'm finally done tuning my edgun r3m for slugs.

Great write-up. I have a R3M .25 and I need to be able to switch back and forth between slugs and pellets when pesting. I have found that jsb 23 gr. and FX slugs are a great combo. Both group well and impact at the same point at 50 yds. Ideal for farm pesting.

    Pellet pen and slugs

I found this solution to be much more practical and useful than a pen. I now use a small O ring as a stop for the slugs. It works great. Check out this updated tubular magazine I made for my Edgun. I used a carbon arrow and cut it to the desired length. Then trimmed the feeder...

    Fx hybrid .25

I use them in my edgun r3m. I like to switch between slugs and pellets when pesting and I find that the FX slugs are best for longer shots, strong cross winds and when I need extra knock down power. The slugs shoot about 5% slower but end up being faster at 50 yds.

Difference between Nielsen slugs and FX Hybrid slugs?

I agree completely. I value the ability to quickly switch between slugs and pellets depending on conditions. For me this is essential.

    Edgun R3M .25. Need Advice

Ok. I will lower the pressure and give it a try. Not sure what I am looking for when checking the hammer spring but will check it out.

    Edgun R3M .25. Need Advice

Just noticed that my Edgun when full of air shoots JSB 23 gr at 680 FPS. Than as I shoot it speeds up to around 920 FPS at 130 bar. Any idea what I need to do?

    EDgun slug inquiry

I have 2 edgun R3. One in .22 and one in .25. Both shot NSA 17.5 (.2165) and 26 gr. slugs about 50 FPS slower than JSBs, were just as accurate as JSBs at 40 yds, were more accurate than JSBs beyond 50 yds.

What did you shoot in your youth?

Started with a Daisy Red Rider then upgraded to the Crosman 760. 13 pumps for starlings. 18 pumps for squirrels.

OK - so I just bought a yong heng

That is not the way it works. The faster the flow the better the cooling. That is a fact of physics. Faster water allows a much greater amounts of heat to be transferred because the difference in temperature between the heat source and the water is greater. It is hard to explain but...

Fantastic review. Thank you. Very helpful and well done.

EDgun r5m .22cal standard what slugs work

8thman. Thanks for the info. I have been shooting NSA 17.5 and JSB 18 out of my edgun also. Something doesn’t sound right. Are you sure the NSAs come out faster? My R3 shoots the slugs about 50 FPS slower and with the higher BC the slugs should be higher than the pellets at 75 yds. I...

    .217 NSA 17.5 grain - YES!

Your findings are very similar to my findings. I compared the 17.5 .2165 to JSB 18 gr in my matador R3. More accurate at 70 + yds, less wind drift, more thump on impact.

If your gun can shoot JSB 18.13’s, A Slug for you

I have a Matador R3 long and have been trying the NSA 17.5 gr .2165 slugs. Here are my initial findings. (JSB 18gr FPS 930) 1) Cost is very reasonable. $18 for 400. About a penny more a round than JSB pellets. 2) At 40yds they are as accurate as JSBs. And shoot .5 inch lower. No...
