1st January 1970 was the introduction of the Freimark. I believe that any German-made gun over the 7.5J muzzle energy (so not earning the Freimark) had to have a serial number after this date.

Lux isn't referring to the model: there was no Lux version of the Diana 23! Might have been stamped by the dealer. If there is no 2 digit year stamped into the heel of the butt, then I would date it as early 60's. Sometime after 1958, Diana seem to have stopped stamping the year into that spot...

That's the Mk.II with the rounded foreend and the screws outside of the "checkered" area, so would be 1984-85ish. You can see the difference to my Mk.1. The barrel of the S is also a greater diameter than the standard model.
