Very nice rail! I have a maverick that my sons shoot in nrl22 competition. I made it much less barrel finicky by tensioning the barrel. I installed two delrin washers around the barrel at the front of the receiver, and screwed the shroud in tightly against it. Makes it much more dependable.

Sounds like the bottle clamp needs to be composite or some other expandable material.
