Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

Indeed. With the original hammer spring weight back in there, I'm at 950fps at a power wheel setting of 7 and the hammer spring screw about 5 turns out. 10 fps slower, but I get like 30 more shots per fill and the hammer impact may even be less deafening if I'm not wearing hearing protection, so...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

OK, I spent the afternoon yesterday tuning. With the front reg at 150 bar and the rear reg at 120 bar, it was slinging 34.9gr NSA slugs at 960fps. Shooting at a KYL rack at 50 yards, I hit the 0.5" spinner five times in a row once (just off a bipod with no rear bag, and I'm a poor shot). So...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

Repeatedly blasting the bottle full from a compressed air tank eventually shut whatever valve was stuck open, so at least it's not leaking anymore. The moral of the story there is don't disassemble an FX airgun unless you have a high pressure air tank to refill it afterwards. Which is pretty...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

I chambered a pellet (even put some silicone grease around the skirt), but the rifle is still leaking at least 5bar/min by the time the bottle is up to 50bar. And at that point the Hill foot pump is too hot to touch, so I literally can't keep up with the leak without destroying the seals in my...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

Well, I can't add air because it leaks faster than I can pump; I have a compressed air tank, but it's 100 miles away right now. I soap bubble tested all around the bottle, fill probe, reg stem, gauge, etc. and didn't find any visible leaks, so it must be leaking through the chamber? Removing the...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

Thanks; I wasn't going to pump up to 200bar while it exhibited this 'auto de-gassing feature' at 50 bar unless the community was pretty confident that higher bottle pressures were a solution to this particular problem.

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

Every step I take trying to debug this seems to break something new. After shredding an O-ring on the front regulator stem, I replaced that. Took both regulators apart and didn't see any damage to O-rings or piston. I switched both gauges to Huma 23mm units, because the error-prone FX gauges...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

FX support says I "Need to add Belleville washer to the stack inside the regulator to increase the pressure" of the front regulator above 135 bar. I'm not specifically after higher pressure (the gun was slinging 34.9 gr NSA slugs at any speed I wanted with low ES), I just wanted to make sure the...

I see a lot of FX Maverick's for sale

The only things the Impact M3 has over the Maverick (for my purposes): -The Maverick puts the hammer right under your ear, which is just annoying enough that you feel compelled to wear hearing protection in your right ear if you are shooting heavy projectiles -The dorky safety position on the...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

Be that as it may, it doesn't explain why turning the front reg stem CCW did not increase the regulator pressure at all. To reiterate: 1. Gun was behaving erratically 2. I decided to check/adjust front regulator pressure 3. With rear regulator stem open/flush, gauge read 135 bar (bottle was at...

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

It's two threads above flush, which I presume is already too far out.

Is my FX Maverick front regulator toast?

My .25 Maverick Sniper had been shooting fine, but the other day the FPS was all over the place (like +/- 75 fps) and I'm pretty sure I no longer heard the plenum fill up between shots. I had never touched the regulator pressures since I've owned the gun, just swapping in the heavy slug liner...

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

Looks pretty similar to the Huma set, it's missing the butt as you noted, and they don't offer Maverick furniture anyway. Their GRS-like rifle stocks indeed look cool, but since they are so close to GRS prices, I'd probably just go GRS if I was in that market.

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

I even had my OEM butt pad lowered a bit, so I didn't even notice that the laminate butt pad won't go all the way up. Seems like it would be a quick Dremel job on a non-visible portion of the laminate butt stock to fix (I know, no one wants to Dremel a new+expensive piece of wood to make it fit...

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

The OEM screws are M4x6mm, because the plastic cheek has less material under the counterbore than the laminate (the laminate would snap if it was that thin). M4x8mm might actually be a better fit; 10mm looked pretty close to bottoming out. On mine, the counterbores were also VERY tight, so the...

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

I'm still waiting on a Foster hose I ordered from Pyramyd in APRIL. It's said it'll be in stock 7 days out this entire time. Utah Airguns, NSA, and Huma are the only airgun vendors I trust to actually ship things anymore. Glad you got your furniture expediently. You'll need some M4x10 socket...

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

@Goldwing I can't reply to your PM until I post for the 5th time (i.e. this post, ha) -It's a UTG 'Recon' bipod, which is fine for the $60 I paid for it, but I have my eye on an 'MDT CKYE-POD GEN2' bipod for the obscene sum of $600 if I ever want to set my money on fire. -Yes, Saber Tactical...

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

It looks like it, but to keep that surface flat enough, the inletting probably needs to be done on a mill. So I'll probably just shove a black shim in that gap and try to forget about it. That's an Impact in the pictures; I guess these are so new they don't have Maverick pics up yet. I was...

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

This guy on Ebay was selling 'custom' Maverick furniture, but the price was outrageous, lead time was months, and when I inquired he said he couldn't guarantee the grip wouldn't break if I picked up the gun by the grip....so I passed on that. He's no longer offering this product on Ebay, so it...

Installed new laminate furniture on FX Maverick

View from right side: It's weird, the grip looks angled from the left side, but vertical from the right side. I promise, the grip is comfy (and holds your hand nearly vertical), even if it looks like some kind of modern art sculpture. This pic also shows the wood/metal gap behind the trigger...
