I have two R7 rifles and as far as performance I cannot tell the difference. One does have a nicer stock though. They both are accurate, the cocking seems identical, triggers are the same, and they have no grinding or twang. Probably got lucky.

I have an earlier 80's pre safety model and it is a nice little air pistol. It currently needs a little work, but I have shot thousands of pellets through it over the last 30 plus years and only recently has it needed work. Pretty accurate and fun to shoot. Enjoy.

I have had that happen before also but it is really not the current problem I am having. Mine does not want to latch at the end of the stroke. Then the spring tension opens it back up and you try again and maybe it latches or not. It happens almost every time and I have stopped shooting it...
