Sac Valley FT ( SVFTC ) April 2024 Match Report

Scott, Looks like a great match and wonderful picture of Jim C. I wished he could of carried on longer but I will never forget him. One of the best parts of Field Target. BILL

    Sightron S6 fieldtarget

I hopefully will soon have the Athlon Ares ETR 15-60x56 any day now. I too wanted a Sightron S6 but waiting until the middle of July was the deal breaker. Savings $1000 was right there too. We will see if the ETR meets the hype and my expectations.

Side wheel for Athlon Ares ETR 15-60x56?

Hang in there better days are coming. I have a couple of Sightrons III's and looking very hard at the New Sightron S6 but for the money I can't pass up the Athlon Ares ETR SF 15-60 x 56.

Side wheel for Athlon Ares ETR 15-60x56?

Today I called Athlon and requested when they expected the new 212108 to arrive. My original order I was told the middle of March. Now the expected date has changed to 2nd week of May.

    FT etiquette question

The hunter shooter under the rules must shoot first so any comment about distance to target would only be a WAG. However, if the Hunter shooters knocks it down with both shots the Open or WFTF shooter might be interested in what he shot it for. But, the rules may be bias against the Hunter...

    Field Target Shooting Positions

Might not be legal but then again you might get away with it. I have seen shooters sitting on the ground with a bipod leaned up against their knee but Tom's method is rather new. I think you would always shoot better with a bipod sitting on a bucket, and as low as you can comfortably get.

Euro HFT Here in the US?

Years ago a club in Alabama tried to bring UK HFT along but it seemed from a distance it really didn't catch on. Most of our Hunter class prefer our buckets and bipods. Likely mostly to what Motorhead stated. More of us older shooters prefer our comfort to our pain. Our average age in hunter...

The difference in the Althon Ares ETR and The Athlon Ares BTR? Just wondering what the three digit letters stood for.

BSA R12 for the NA market?

I asked AOA three months ago if the R12 would be coming and was told at that time there were no plans. I ended up buying a R10 Thumbhole Pro on their special $999. It is a little stronger that 20 ft/lbs so it is back in Arizona wanting to turned down to 19 ft/lbs as advertised. Very nice rifle...

I make money the old fashioned way...

Last October at the CT State Champion ship we had a bonus shot in the middle of the match shooting a field target with a 2" KZ at 75 yards off hand. I had know idea where to hold for my longest mark was 55 yards. We all had 3 shots at the target. I asked my shooting partner to watch thru his...

    Aim small, miss small

Scotton, You just proved your HW97 can group. On the second group you apparently verified what you already knew. You can't hit what you are aiming at! However, with a springer at 50 yards you came close enough to knock the 50 yard field targets down I would suspect at least 50% of the time...

Results 2022 CT State FT Match Results

Great shoot Leo, and awesome hospitality. So refreshing to see a relatively new club with so much passion. The course was well laid out and challenging. Rockville, will be seeing more of me in the future and you match reports are up there with our cousin Greg S. BCSA. Two Awesome venues that I...

Hunter Division - how to overcome the 16x ranging challenge?

Knowing the cave man that owns that TM above I think he would have us all shooting sitting from the ground, without sticks, in a big red ant colony. I pretty sure I have nailed 2 of his preferences and the 3rd well, wouldn't surprise me.

Hunter Division - how to overcome the 16x ranging challenge?

Wayne, we have enough negative noise on this subject that I agree it would be a struggle. It seems to me when they want it the Bog has unlimited power. When they don't want it they pass the buck to the clubs. I have seen that happen. The last time I looked at the poll I started 80% of those that...

Hunter Division - how to overcome the 16x ranging challenge?

Thanks, I am kind of looking forward to it. I feel some of my ideas that have come to past have allowed more shootes to enjoy Hunter Field Target on a more level playing field. ie give Hunter piston shooters their own class. I suppose you would think that should of never happened either. Hunter...

Hunter Division - how to overcome the 16x ranging challenge?

Frank, Phil Hepler puts his time in and shoots well and I don't quarry with that. In order to shoot matches and only miss one or two shots something is working for you for sure.

Hunter Division - how to overcome the 16x ranging challenge?

Keith, I don't think you have any idea how hard the Hunter class works and the Burning River Club likely has the biggest Hunter attendance in AAFTA right now. Attitudes like yours won't encourage them to stick around either. As far as your participation wards go, well I know where you can put...

Hunter Division - how to overcome the 16x ranging challenge?

Tim, Many of the hunter class have inferior equipment and leveling the field so that we all had a equal chance of shooting well is a good start. Our Nationals have been won in the past by tuned rifles in the $500 range. I feel the biggest concession is the range to the target. If all hunter...
