    Air Arms Old Reliable

Those older Air Arms were some of the simplest and most reliable airguns ever made. My first PCP was an S400 Carbine. And it was deadly accurate and never even hinted at leaking.

    Michels air rifle?

Willy has been on the airgun forums since before phones had touch screens...and he's always typed the same :) If he can type that well licking a computer keyboard, y'all should take notes lol Snow Peak will forever be known as Snow Peck to me now. Thanks Willy!

    HW/Weihrauch .20 Caliber

Exactly. In a thread singing nothing but praises with some of those bordering on mysticism, it helps to point out some of the potential cons. And there are cons. With absolutely anything. The .20 caliber is a fine airgun caliber. But it won't do anything that a .177 or .22 won't do. They...

N/A Choked vs unchoked barrel with pellets and slugs

I had never had a choked rimfire barrel, but was guessing it was slight. Good info

N/A Choked vs unchoked barrel with pellets and slugs

Have you ever checked to see what amount of choke a rimfire barrel has? I'd have to imagine it can't be nearly as tight as a choked airgun barrel.

    HW/Weihrauch .20 Caliber

That doesn't make much sense to try 15-20 if only 5 are worth having by your logic. And a .20 caliber is all of a sudden the only caliber that only "needs" 5 types of pellets available? I've never tried 15-20 types of pellets in any caliber to find "the one". Options are good with the way...

N/A Choked vs unchoked barrel with pellets and slugs

You'll likely find that a choked barrel excels with many types of pellets and is finicky at best with slugs. You'll likely find that an unchoked barrel is decently accurate but pellet picky with pellets, and great with slugs once you find the right size. I wouldn't have an unchoked barrel to...

They only thing buying a .20 will get you is a lighter wallet and fewer ammo choices.

    Lapping scopes Rings?

I wouldn't waste my time lapping rings on a PCP. There's no recoil, it doesn't take much clamping force to hold a scope solid. If they are noticeably misaligned, they are junk from the start IMO. Lapping is a refinement to good rings. Not a way to make junk rings into good rings. Just my take.

Airguns That You Broke, Received Broken, or Just Broke and You Never Fixed

FWB124 with a detent wedge that fell out of the compression tube. The wedge is a different junkier steel than the tube and it's hard to weld properly. Tried a few other tricks with limited success and stuck it in a corner for parts or a rainy day. Another FWB124 with a weak lockup (weaker than...

    Am I a sucker??

Given the story you've told of the situation, I wouldn't think any less of you if you didn't buy it back from him. It obviously functioned the last time you used it, given it had air in it when he got it. If he wanted a new gun with a warranty he should have bought a new gun with a warranty...

N/A Air Arms Tx 200 or Weihrauch HW97

Cheaper materials? Have you never seen the cheap sintered metal cocking shoe on an AA that's known to crack? Or the cocking linkage that wears out and causes lockup issues? Or the 10 cent oring breech seals that need replaced often... Look a little closer than the shiny thin bluing on the...

    Taipan Worth the trouble

I picked up a used Vet Long in .22 a while back and it shot rather well as I received it, but not as good as I thought it could. I pulled the barrel and found a slightly "grabby" feeling crown when pushing a pellet through. Put it in my little lathe and buzzed a new crown on it and it shoots...

    Tuning Barrel droop?

And I'd buy it, spend 10 minutes working on it, and have a great shooting rifle.

    Tuning Barrel droop?

You're bending the barrel upwards and not changing anything with the breech block or lockup mechanism. It wont cause any lockup issues and it won't move over time. It takes a bit of effort to get it to bend in the first place. I would remove the barrel, put the breech block in a padded vise...

    FX King block damage

.....3 months to get a gun that works. You're a better man than me for dealing with that. I'm glad you got good parts at least and can hopefully get it going the way you want.

    Tuning Barrel droop?

It's a tolerance stack up issue during manufacturing. The people that believe it's to make the open sights work better, answer me why do some guns have it and some don't? The real FIX is to simply bend/nudge/adjust the barrel upwards. Easy, free, and simple to do.

    HW35 or HW50

If accuracy is of any importance, get the .177 They are much better barrels than the .22 in the Weihrauch brand. Plus the .177 is a better fit for the power level, IMO.
