    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Naw, spoke too soon. I can't solve this one. All o-rings replaced several times, tried a couple different washer configs, multiple pressure settings, but still get varying levels of leaking through the weep hole. I'm assuming it has to be related to either the small o-ring on the adjustment...

    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Thanks again. I can try turning up both and tuning with the valve and micro adjusters. Maybe shoot for 150 on the first and go from there. I don't really shoot slugs, and right now I can shoot from 14-25 gr ammo with just micro/macro wheel adjustments and great ES. Either way, leaks appear to be...

    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Recovery is fine. Are you recommending raising the 1st reg? This is a .22 w/700mm barrel, so 90-95 bar are fine for the 2nd reg. Not sure about the benefit/liability of increasing the difference between the regs.

    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Circling back with a hopefully update. I have my 2nd reg at 90 bar, and getting ES of 2-3. Was trying to set the 1st reg at the recommended 30-40 bar higher and ended up at 130 bar. After multiple 1st reg inspections, o-ring replacements and lubrication I still couldn't stop the leaking. So I...

    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Nope, spoke too soon, still leaking through the atmosphere weep hole. I've replaced the o-rings on the piston, plunger and inside the housing. Not as frustrating as not being able to find a leak, but can't understand how this is still a problem. Couldn't replace the one between the brass cup...

    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Yes, 1st reg and only one o-ring on that piston. Still holding this AM. Appreciate the ideas.

    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Thanks for the additional follow up. Inspected and relubed o-rings. Has been holding solid for the last few hours. So if there's still it leak it's much less, but hoping it's solved.

Roger that. Will pull it out check and lube o-rings. Thanks.

    Tuning M3 Weep Hole Leak

Tracked down a leak to the weep hole in the bottle adapter/1st reg. What are the usual suspects here? Thanks.

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

As others have pointed out the accuracy and precision of the FX gauges are not ideal, so I ordered a Sekhmet. I the meantime I pulled the gun apart cleaning and lubricating as appropriate. Also, my 2nd reg had 12 Belleville washers installed. I wondered if that was why I had no low end on that...

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

K, this is the best I could get and it's still not what I'd like to see. Same reg settings as before, 120/95 bar. I fully screwed in the hammer spring tension adjustment screw and then backed it out (3-1/2 turns) until I got my target velocity for JSB 18.1 gr pellets on power wheel setting 7. I...

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

Makes sense. I'll turn down the HS pre-load adjustment screw and see where things land. Especially considering I can't really lower the reg pressure. Point well taken on the accuracy of the gauges. Either way even of they're approximate I should be able to tune to FPS and SD.

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

Thanks, this is similar to my typical approach... For a given reg setting and target max FPS (plus about 20) for the heaviest intended ammo. Then set power wheel on max and turn up hammer spring until there's no significance increase in FPS. If the target speed isn't reached, increase reg...

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

Thanks. My regs are at 120/95 right now. I also can't set the 2nd any lower. It's nearly bottomed out, when barley cracked it pressurizes the plenum to 95 bar.

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

OK, I bumped up the HS pre-tension two full turns. Here are graphs of 18.1 and 14.3 gr pellets, as well as a 10-shot string at about where I'd shoot them. Actually too fast for the 14.3 gr, but you get the idea. A couple of additional observations, the 2nd reg only opens after every shot at...

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

Appreciate the follow up. I can try increasing the HS pre-load tension too. My logic was keeping it lower to get more useable range out to the power wheel. At some point the velocity. curve really levels off. It seems that either approach, low or high reg pressure can produce low ES. I guess I...

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

Yep, I went the other way, but maybe that's the wrong logic. I'm at lower reg pressures. Seems like there are different schools of thought, but I haven't seen compelling data one way or another. Here's what I'm seeing with the 18.1 gr JSBs, albeit small numbers at each setting. Happy to try...

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

Many thanks for the insightful responses. A few other details on the setup. The HS preload screw is most of the way out, so high pre-load. Basically I set it so with JSB 25.4 gr were a bit over 900 FPS and then turned it down to around 900 FPS. That's the max power I need for those pellets or...

    Tuning Improving Maverick Shot Consistency

I've been trying to improve the shot consistency out of my FX Maverick. I polished the hammer, hammer weight, hammer spring and trigger sear. This is a .22 with 700mm barrel, using the pellet probe and port. The first reg is 140 bar and second is 110 bar. Here are two shot strings with JSB 18.1...

    Tuning Wildcat/Maverick Probe Adjustment

Not sure I'm sure what you're advising. The pellet probe set screw doesn't really allow for adjustment. Yes, this screw can be accessed. I used a fine tip Sharpie for good visibly on the posted images. For sure a more finely scribed line would allow for the most precise alignment, but you...
