    Tuning RTI Prophet Performance Settings

My fill probe started leaking, so my testing got sidelined. Last settings were for H&N Barracuda Hunter Extreme - 80 bar, hammer spring flush, 865 fps, one hole at 37 yards.

Scope choice, your respected opinions needed!

^I would agree if going out to distance (500 or more yards min) - I ripped apart the NX8 in another thread for being crap, but it really is moot when talking about airgun distances. I have a ZCO, and it is much better than my XTR3 (current favorite), but I just don't need the extra optical...

Scope choice, your respected opinions needed!

Bushnell rep said the Match Pro glass was equivalent to the Forge. The way he said it made it sound like it wasn't quite as good, but he did mention it was being marketed for rimfire competitors, so it might be optimized for the shorter ranges. Good price and features.

Scope choice, your respected opinions needed!

At airgun distances, great glass isn't required, nor can it even be fully appreciated. Agree with poster above re: Midas Tac. While an Ares ETR is better, and a Cronus better still, I doubt you could tell at 100 yards. If you plan to share the optic with a firearm shooting 1K yards, the...

Nightforce nx8 4x32 or Element Nexus

Your argument for the NX8 is centered around airgun-specific caveats, which is fine - we just came at it from different angles. Perhaps I need to remember we're in an airgun forum haha.

Nightforce nx8 4x32 or Element Nexus

^No worries, I agree at 100 yards the NX8 looks beautiful, and the light weight and extra magnification for airgun groups is welcome. I originally bought it for a lightweight 6.5 Sherman Max, which can be supersonic out to 2K, hence my criteria for comparison.

Nightforce nx8 4x32 or Element Nexus

Wow, very surprising. Are you talking airgun distances, perhaps? For me, at long range, the CA, edge distortion, mirage, simple resolution, parallax, and DOF were all closer to the old Ares BTR than they were to the Cronus, never mind the rest of the class. The differences were so great that...

Nightforce nx8 4x32 or Element Nexus

I bought a NX8 4-32 - it was inferior to all of the known "best in class" scopes for the price bracket / tier. Returned it after comparing side by side with a few of mine. The glass is a definite step down from the Trijicon/Delta clones, XTR3, MK5 HD, Razor G2, Cronus, and I may be forgetting...

    Best "good" Range Finder

I've got the Sig Kilo3000 binos - they give holdovers and windage out to 800 yards in the reticle, or further if tethered to a Kestrel. No problem ranging out to 2200 (haven't tried further). Great glass for the price.

New to PCP, buying Impact M3

^Agree - reloading and load development for a new barrel is my favorite part. Playing with the PCP is similar. I've only had mine for a week, and already hooked - won't be driving to the range to shoot firearms as often. I stuck with a .22 PCP (RTI Prophet Performance) and am shooting pellets...

New to PCP, buying Impact M3

I use the $50 Amazon hand pump and pump a 500cc bottle from 200 to 300 bar, for a 22 that gets approx ~80 shots over that pressure drop. Approx 275 pumps and takes a few sets due to heating of the pump and fatigue. I generally do the first few sets of 50-75 pumps and then go down to 25-50's. ...

    Tuning RTI Prophet Performance Settings

Regulator does go lower FYI - I'm at 70 bar and HS flush, ragged hole groups at 37 yards now. 55 yards <1/2", and 67 yards, maybe 2/3" - basically holding MOA or under, with the 15.89's. Didn't check velocity, but POI @ 37 yards dropped 0.2 mils or so from the 80 bar setting.

    Tuning RTI Prophet Performance Settings

No worries, these things are commoditized at this point, and it's not rocket science to tune them, so we should all be sharing info. 15.89's did run that slow also FYI, but I didn't check accuracy at that velocity because I want my target load to have some crossover potential for gophers. A...

    Tuning RTI Prophet Performance Settings

FYI 80 bar and flush HS with 25.39 Re-designs gives me ~833 fps in one hole @ 30 yds. It seems almost all settings "work" - it's just a question of whether they shoot one hole or have a few fliers making it say, 3/8". At this velocity, with the Sarissa, noise is ~2 magazines dropped from waist...

    Tuning RTI Prophet Performance Settings

Thanks, best accuracy for the 15.89's so far at 90-95 bar seems to be around 980 fps out of mine, with a touch less hammer than flush. Seems to like to run fast with the slow twist - makes sense. I'll try the 25 grainers tomorrow.

Accurate shots per fill for hunting purposes

What is the hunting use for a PCP? Other than a big custom pushing 1000 ft/lbs... In what scenario do you choose an airgun over a firearm? I can see for killing pests in and around barns, etc., but I can't think of any hunting application where I'd choose one.

Gun Choice Advice, Please! Subtitle: Why can't I shoot straight anymore?!?

Just sight it in resting the same way and see how the POI changes. As long as the rest/hold is consistent, the POI shift should be as well.

    Tuning RTI Prophet Performance Settings

I guess the better question is at what velocities different projectiles shoot well out of the 22 long range barrel, which is twisted more slowly. I sighted in with JSB 15.89's, at 120 bar with hammer spring flush to buttstock (apparently stock setting). That yielded 950 fps and put 10 inside a...

    Tuning RTI Prophet Performance Settings

Just got the RTI Prophet Perf and Sarissa. Going to try a few pellets I have on hand and tune over chrono. If anyone has regulator / hammer spring settings they like for certain projectiles, please post them! I'll post the settings mine likes as I have them.
