Thank you both! The rifle is a stock Texan LSS CF using MrHollowpoint 355g hp slugs. The gun shoots them around 900 fps. The scope is a Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50. Its on a removable mount so I can use it on my AR while holding zero.

I would second the AF Texan in 45 or 50 cal. I can also speak positively about AEA guns as I have the Zeus and it is an excellent weapon. I would not hesitant to try the AEA big bores for deer hunting. All this assuming your state allows airgun deer hunting.

Yes, recoil is very significant. I did the math and with a 1082g bullet it is roughly equivalent to a 375 H&H!
