A Wild Desire for a Springer Has Popped Up

My two cents- if you have friends with springers, try out a few so that you can find what works best with you. It rarely seems to be mentioned that as much as certain rifles can be very particular about what pellets work well with them, the same could be said of the shooter/rifle relationship. A...

    Crossman 2240 breech

Just my two cents... If you wanted to consider aluminum, that opens up the multi-shot breech from BNM. Takes a while to arrive, but it's a worthwhile addition IMHO. Turns a 2240 into a CO2-powered baby P-Rod. Even uses Marauder mags, and has an option to add a shroud.

Best budget setup you know of

My small-game hunting rig is a Hatsan 135 Vortex .22 with a Williams peep sight, front fiber-optic rod and rear iron sight removed. Makes a front ghost ring similar to target sights. Mine loves Crosman Domes above all else, and while it isn't a one-hole gun offhand (although it can be from a...

    Bullpup Springer

It's an interesting idea, and I think it could be done with a few modifications. I'm thinking that a sidelever or underlever would be more effective, the compression tube and spring facing backwards with an upward-angled transfer port at the end of the tube. Think of essentially an over-under...

Standard air gun trigger vs having trigger work done..

I suppose it depends on the gun and the trigger. Some are good, some are ok, some are terrible. Lots of people rave about the T06 triggers available for Diana and HW rifles, and they are often considered to be the gold standard for competition springer triggers. I'm partial to the Quattro...

    Crosman 2240 pimping project

As soon as I figure out how to post a picture, I will put one of my 2400KT Chimaera up. The 2400KT is a 2240 carbine with a longer main tube, just for reference. Replaced the valve with a high-flow model, added a MAD shoulder stinger with stock-mount CO2 bandolier, an improvised vertical...

    New seeking advice

Just my two cents, being one of the oddballs that like Hatsans- Given the variety of species you are looking to contend with, I would err for the super-magnum class gas ram guns- Model 125/135 for breakbarrel, Model 150/155 for underlever (fixed barrel). It is true that Hatsan can be somewhat...

    Crosman 760 pumpster

Just my two cents... I actually used to hunt rabbits with an old Pumpmaster (and BB's!), and there was a time when this actually constituted a sizable portion of the family's diet. I should also note that I was 12 and had no idea there was such a thing as even a low-powered springer. Is it...

    Crosman Premier domes-unexpected surprise

I've always had good luck with the CPPD's in all of my springers. I guess they actually make two weights in .177- Ultra Magnums (10.5 gr) and Lights (7.9 gr). I've had my best groupings with the ultra-mags, but I have a couple tins of Lights coming for use in my lower-powered CO2 guns. Only one...

Need some help building a modded 2400KT.

Howdy all. A recent flood of overtime pay has left me with the resources to do something I've always wanted to do- build a custom project gun. To this end, I've decided to start with the basic platform of a 2400KT from the Crosman custom shop. I'm looking to increase velocity as much as possible...

Springer shooters - I'd like your help picking a springer please

If you're looking for a cheap, upgradeable springer that won't be mourned if you pitch it, I'd recommend a Gamo. Likely a Hornet or Silent Cat. Both can be upgraded with a Nitro piston kit, and a replacement trigger from Charlie Da Tuna is a pretty common additional upgrade. They will both run...

    .177 vs .22 springer pesting

I suppose it depends both upon what type of pests you're after. I have two gas-ram Hatsans (a 155 in .177 and a 135 in .22), and a spring-piston Gamo (a .177 Silent Cat). All of them have taken critters up to possum-size with proper shot placement, but the Gamo occasionally requires a follow-up...

What are your thoughts on the new Beeman Dual air rifles?

I'd certainly be interested in reading more, once HA gets down to testing them. If the velocity is high enough, I might be interested in buying one of the duel-.177 models. The sight is interesting, that's for sure.

So how do you get stupid starlings

Starlings are clever, I must admit that. As much as I hate them, I will admit that I enjoy hunting them. Kind of like backyard turkey hunting. Here's a few tips I've used over the years that help to pile up a body count without spooking them off for good. 1- Get a squirrel-proof birdfeeder (the...

Best Value On a Break over

I have to second the Walther or a good refurb. Gamo's have never managed to impress me, and although a Benjamin is not a bad option in the price range, it is possible to do better. I generally like Hatsan rifles, but the sub-200 models can be unpredictable with regards to quality.

The Economy of Airgunning....so how is your Job?

Paramedic here. In my area of the country, good-paying municipal jobs in my career field are few and far between, and the competition to get them is fierce. Private-sector paramedic jobs very rarely pay well (enough to live on, but not much left for luxuries), so that's limited me to low-priced...

    Moral dilemma with Starlings

I've never had a problem with plugging a starling or grackle. The collective local name for these creatures is perhaps a little vulgar to use here, but suffice to say it references their habit of defecating copiously wherever they please. When the local mulberry trees are fruiting, the...

    A hunting springer/gas rammer

I will second the Hatsan 125. I have a 135 (same innards, but with a walnut stock and no suppressor) in .22, and it continues to impress me. I would also second the Vortex piston route for a hunting gun, and I would highly advise you to seek out a model with a suppressor. Without it, it's LOUD...

Opinions on the Crosman Fury Nitro .177

Hmm... One idea that may not have been put forward yet is an IZH Drozdh. Kind of a funky looking little thing, and not powerful enough to be a hunting rifle, but it is well-known for accuracy. One additional perk that's very rare in spring/gas piston guns- it's a 5-shot repeater with an...

Opinions on the Crosman Fury Nitro .177

I'm generally one to advocate for the lower-priced models, but my experiences with Crosmans and Gamos have formed the exception to that rule. I suppose it does depend upon your intended purpose. For just a fun plinker, a Walther Terrus may be a good option. If you are wanting more power for...
