    HW 45 issue

That is interesting, as I thought only the 0.177 caliber versions have the dual-power feature (thus, the larger caliber version only has 1- that being the 'high power' one. On my early 0.177 cal. gun, 'low power' setting is about 90 degrees; does yours go past that?

    What did you shoot today?

Well, not exactly (or even close to) shooting these today: 2 "1st Variant" Crosman 760 "Giant Killers" (who remembers that ad?), a Daisy CO2-200 pistol and a Marksman Repeater. (and, Fred Bear "Black Fox" bow; no air required!).

started teardown and resealing simple pistol

More than 30 years ago, a friend gave me this 50's Crosman 130 "First Variant" that he'd picked up at a garage sale. It wouldn't hold air (reminded me of the Crosman 760s [also first variant] I had back in the mid/late 60's). I took it all apart, and got it to work with maybe $2 of Hardware...

    Definition of Magnum

Nice HW 54! I never have figured if it's supposed to be EL54 or 54EL (the ARH catalog stated "54EL", while W.H.B. Smith's book states EL54; I assume what's stamped on your gun answers the question)? I don't blame you for not wanting to shoot it (at least not with ether boost anyway). I...

    Diana Mauser K98

Well, I messed up here-putting the same info (about my K98 breakage) on this post twice.... Anyway, I am not sure if I got what we call in the USA a "Lemon" (a bad one) or not. There has to be quite a few similar 460 Magnums around, and the K98 'action' seems to be more or less a model 48/52...

    Definition of Magnum

While I would guess the definition of "Magnum" with regard to spring-air guns remains fairly constant over the years, which particular guns are/were considered "magnum" varies with time. When I bought my Wischo/BSF 55n back in 1971, it's rated velocity of around 750 fps (0.177 cal.) seemed...

    Diana Mauser K98

In another post, I wrote up my thoughts on the K98 (springer version). In short, I really liked everything except 2 things: 1) the cocking arm latch seems poor: it doesn't take much of a bump for the arm to release and drop down. Sometimes, the arm releases at the vibration of the shot. 2)...

    Diana k98 opinions?

I bought one of those Numrich Arms sale K98s (0.177 caliber). Really like the looks of it (well, except for what appears to be a plastic trigger guard and fore-end band). Shot well too, until it suffered major failure at less than 100 rounds that is... The "hinge pin" (connects cocking arm...

    HW95 less than 500 rounds!?

Owners need to read the 'fine print' on those so-called "Lifetime Warranties". I recall the original Beeman Lifetime warranty had a disclaimer that springs and seals were not covered. And then the fact the whole Beeman warranty thing 'went away' when Beeman's sold the company (even though the...

First Purchase of 2021 - Bavaria (BSF) Wischo Model 55N (Deluxe Walnut Stock)

It may come as no surprise the the "Wischo" (BSF) 55n was my first 'adult' airgun: from ARH in 1971. I still have it, and I'd estimate 60,000+ shots fired over those years (I even wore through the original cocking arm-first and only time that's ever happened to me). Mine did have a habit of...

    What's a HW30 .177 good for?

Still in our family is an older (pre-safety, leather piston seal) HW30s (from Robert Law's Air Rifle Headquarters) that is still running fine on all original parts/spring/seals (!). Not a lot of power, but light to carry and fun so shoot. Could just be those lower-powered guns don't have near...

    HW95 less than 500 rounds!?

Pea-Shooter: I guess I'm way out-of-date on HW rifles, as I have no idea what the part is you call the "keeper". I guess HW rifles no longer come apart by un-screwing the whole rear-end of the receiver (after taking out the trigger-block)? Seems I wouldn't know how to get to the insides of...

    HW95 less than 500 rounds!?

That is a bit ugly! Reminds me of the time I took my fairly new HW-77K (first generation one [with the ball-detent cocking arm latch], so quite a few years ago) apart (even though it seemed to be working fine) and found the piston seal had quit a few (say, > 10) fairly large metal...

Tuning Diana 460 Magnum broke, again!

As for my gun (the K98 "Mauser" with broken hinge pin); I have not had it apart (new gun-didn't want to void the warranty), but had not noticed anything out of the ordinary prior to the shot (after which the gun wouldn't cock). I assume the seals were OK as chrono tests just prior to breakage...

    A bit of nostalgia

Interesting story! I got my first so-called "adult airgun:" from Law's ARH in 1971 (after a long self-debate over Wischo/BSF 55n or HW-35 [eventually,I ended up with both..]) I managed a trip to Grantsville, WV in the summer of '82, and got to visit ARH right at 'the end'. Bob Law seemed...

    Diana Mauser K98

Well I had a long review of mine (K98 springer; purchased 9/2020) almost written up and then one 'static spark' and computer locked up and all was lost. Since I don't have the desire at this time to do it all over again, here is the 'condensed version': While I really like the K98's...

Tuning Diana 460 Magnum broke, again!

While my gun is the K98 "Mauser" (springer, not the PCP model), it seems to share the 'action' with the 460 Magnum: I had the same failure in less that 100 shots from a brand new gun (!). The piece that broke (I believe it's called the "hinge pin") seems WAY to small/thin to handle the cocking...
