Quality rings which mount on pic rails don't seem to need it in my experience, though you can lap just enough to see that things are bearing well. I like to bed with a bit of Permatex black (gasket compound) after using plastic shims to get optical center at my nominal zero distance. GsT

It's been a lot of years, but that doesn't even look like a 3000psi bottle. It looks like a CO2 bottle. I cut a few of each down some years back and the 3000psi bottles were very thick walled - 3/8"-1/2". The bottle in the picture appears to be 3/16"-1/4". GsT

Gotta agree. Unfortunately $200-$300 just doesn't buy a lot of any kind of airgun these days unless you get lucky on the used market. CO2? Diana has some reputedly good guns, but I don't know if they'd work to that distance - I haven't owned a CO2 gun since the 80's. GsT
