What does that nut thread into? What centers the front of the shroud? Can someone confirm that it’s NOT normal for there to be 1/16”-1/8” play in the shroud?

When I twist the shroud, the rear retainer turns, too. It won’t unthread. Does anyone have pics of the internals to help me troubleshoot?
