    HW50 vs HW95 cocking difficulty

He’s already shot it and knows that he likes it, but I’ve gotten the general impression here that the HW95 is a better rifle for squirrel hunting, with the increased fps and accuracy. He’s not as good of a shot as I am, so I was hoping that the increased fps/fpe would benefit him. I would...

    HW50 vs HW95 cocking difficulty

Hey guys, With help from the folks here, I ended up getting a HW50 for squirrel hunting. My dad needs one as well, but doesn’t have to worry about noise or over-penetration nearly as much as I do (he is on 5 acres). I was thinking about purchasing him a HW95, but he’s 76 yrs old and I’m...

Newbie Here - Squirrel Kills with a Weihrauch HW50S Hunter .177

Interestingly enough, I just accidentally got a kill with a body shot. Either the squirrel moved or I just had a bad shot, but it looks to have hit him right behind the shoulder. He was upside down on the side of a tree at the time and seized up, sticking to the tree for about five seconds...

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

Thanks for the info, Eden. That makes me feel a bit better. I hate seeing them suffer, so I’m trying my absolute best to prevent that. Hollow points, here I come.

Newbie Here - Squirrel Kills with a Weihrauch HW50S Hunter .177

Thanks for the compliments and advice, guys. The average distance for these kills was right around ten yards. Just got my sixth kill this morning. I will definitely be purchasing some of those hollow points from Walmart, because it was slightly more disturbing than the previous kills...

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

Thanks for the info. Here is a pic of the rifle and some targets from when I was sighting it in. Here is a link to my post in the hunting section with my kill pics (I've gotten five of them so far). P.S. Some of these shots are from my wife, who is very good. I was happily surprised!

Newbie Here - Squirrel Kills with a Weihrauch HW50S Hunter .177

Hey guys! I have (had?) a squirrel infestation at my backyard bird feeder, so I came to this forum asking for advice. The knowledgeable fellows here pointed me towards the HW50, which I ordered from AGoA. I received it yesterday and promptly sighted it in. Long story short - I made two...

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

Update... I received my air rifle earlier today. I installed the scope and then spent about an hour sighting it in, making sure I could hit the bullseye from 30 feet. I ventured into my backyard and promptly killed two of those little buggers. Two headshots for two kills; very quick deaths...

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

This review gives you a pretty good idea. He tests the sound levels with a decibel meter at around the 14 minute mark. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9HpzkdXCLu8

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

I’ll be sure to chime back in after some time with the gun. Just a little more background - these damn squirrels are taking over our backyard. I used a shop vac to vacuum up some bird seed and left it out back overnight. Those little jerks ate the shop vac!! Tons of little pieces of...

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

I ended up going with the Weihrauch HW50S Hunter .177 from AGoA. Got some JSB Exact .177 Pellets in 8.44 gr. I will do some target practice to see if I am good enough to guarantee headshots. I’ll let you guys know. Thanks for everything!

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

After a bit more research, I’m kinda worried about going with the HW30 for killing squirrels. I would rather have a bit more noise and ensure a kill than a injuring the pesky varmints with a quieter rifle. This thread, specifically, did not sit well with me... ...

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

Howabout the Weihrauch HW50S Hunter .177 from AGoA? Seems like that would be a little bit more of a sure thing than the HW30, with higher muzzle velocity, and still has the silencer like the HW30 Urban Pro.

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

Would the HW30 and the HW95 be equally sufficient for killing a squirrel with a clean headshot? I read a bit and saw that the HW30 generates significantly less FPS, but that would probably be good for me and my concern about over penetration, huh? Is a scope really necessary for me with my...

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

Thanks for the reply. The reason is that I know next to nothing about air rifles, so I wanted to defer to the experts. I’m experienced in traditional firearms, but this is new territory for me.

Quiet and Accurate .177 Break Barrel

Hi everyone, New here and just had a quick question (which I’m sure you get a lot). I would like to purchase a quiet, accurate, and reliable .177 caliber break barrel air rifle for squirrel hunting in my back yard. Quiet is key, as I don’t want to disturb my neighbors. I will be...
