Results Atglen, PA Field Target: Sunday, June 22nd

Today was a hot one here in PA. Thankfully we were able to shoot in the woods to keep us a little cooler. We had 11 shooters total, 8 PCP and 3 springy bois. The course was 60 shots total, 2 per target, with 6 standing and 6 kneeling shots. I didn't get a chance to run numbers to determine...

Great day for some field target today! 65°, very light breeze, just perfect shooting weather. We had 10 shooters total today, 6 PCP and 4 piston (woooo!). Course was the typical woods course, 60 shots over 30 targets. Not quite sure on the rating as I forgot to range the targets but my estimate...

N/A What is considered the “best”

Yeah theyre hefty guns all scoped up. My FT 97K is pushing 15 lol. If you're really just planning on benching it and doing some target practice theyre pretty great though. That extra weight really helps tame the recoil. If weight is an issue, HW95 like MyCapt said!

N/A What is considered the “best”

IMO the best all around piston gun is the Sig ASP20. Great power, very accurate, easy to shoot, very easy to cock, relatively quiet, and a very good trigger. Problem is they're discontinued so unless you get lucky in the classifieds or ebay... phhbt. Its already been said so I wont mention the...

    Tuning Springer Bore and strokes.

I think theres a couple variables there. Look at the transfer port dimensions and piston weights. The 95 is squeezing the air through a teent hole, 2.5x longer with a piston 10% heavier. I'm guessing here a bit but I would imagine the longer TP allows it to build more pressure before releasing...

    Tuning Springer Bore and strokes.

That's one of the big reasons why they shoot better short stroked or with a 22mm kit for 12ftlb guns. That long stroke is very unnecessary if you don't want the powa

Army testing doesn’t like this scope…

My coworker was in a dirt bike accident almost two years ago and managed to break practically everything. 2 weeks in the hospital and out of work for 3 months without insurance. He got a bill for almost a quarter million which then got negotiated down to something like $20k. It still hurt but...

Army testing doesn’t like this scope…

I don't have insurance (I know I probably should) but I just had to visit a dermatologist for an issue with my hands. Cost me $125. Lady before me had insurance, deductible was $100 and had to get a referral before even showing up. The doctor looked at my hands and gave me 2 prescriptions which...

    Other Sad stats for springers

Imagine you haven't been shooting break barrels for however long you have been. You're in your 70s and just now getting into air rifles after shooting powder for 50+ years. Do you think you'd still be attracted to all of the effort needed compared to the simplicity of a multi shot PCP? The...

    Other Sad stats for springers

The issue isn't so much as "can they do it" its more of "can they do it 30 times in 15 minutes and score well" during a benchrest match, and then repeat that 3-4x. These guys are also in their 70s and I think one is in his 80s. PCP and a compressor is just that much easier for them.

    Tuning Springer Bore and strokes.

67mm is what the published lists elsewhere say. Slight variation between synthetic and leather seals. From what I recall reading there was an even shorter stroked freimark variant for the German market. I have one sitting at home that I've yet to disassemble and measure to verify though
