    Pellet type for backyard varmints?

For backyard application against rats, and rabbits with ~14 FPE gun, are hollow point type pellets really more effective than a regular domed pellet? There are lead free alloy pellets available. If they are the same shape and weight, does lead offer any advantage in stopping power? (because...

Simple questions from someone new to pellet guns

Thanks, it looks like finding suppressor is not going to be a problem. I love technical hobbies and I feel this pulling me in. Before you know it, I will be lying ot my wife about how much I'm spending on it. 😃 What are the thoughts on multi-shot magazine cylinder fed guns? (not semi-auto...

Simple questions from someone new to pellet guns

Wow! Thanks for the informative responses. This is a good forum. (I recently bought my Mom a used Jetta and I have not been able to find a good VW repair forum.) Many of you mention Crosman / Benjamin as being a good brand for the <$300 range. (Discovery, Maximus, Fortitude, QB...

Simple questions from someone new to pellet guns

Approximately how much pressure is used to drive the projectile out of a PCP airgun? I know this depends on all kinds of variables, but what is a ballpark number for let's say to drive a 10g .22 pellet muzzle velocity of 700fps? PCPs can be hand pumped. Is this practical, or is the first thing...

Thanks everyone. The PCP guns look like they would be the most fun to get into, but once you start getting everything you want the $ start to add up and I don't need another hobby :-) Are there CO2 guns that are magazine fed? (not semi-auto, just not having to load a pellet every shot)

I'm in Encinitas which is San Diego's north county. Do you know of any pellet gun specific shooting clubs in my area?

Thanks for the info. SO spring does not necessarily mean a steel spring, it can be a gas charge like the Benjamin NP guns. I'm brand new to pellet guns

Thanks for the response Daniel, What is "hold sensitive"? Change in spring tension as the hold the cocked spring tension? My understanding is that, as with any spring, you can't leave it under tension for a long time.

Yes, I did try searching for this since I assume it is a common question, but I must be doing something wrong since I didn't get any matches. I'm looking for a pellet gun to control rabbits in suburban backyard, so I need it to be quiet. Looking around it seems like single shot break barrel...
